Sahana was late for her first day of college. Again she overslept thinking it's a holiday. She came to her apartment two days before Swati, her best friend. Swati's luggages were already send to the apartment and she would join Sahana in the evening after their first day of college. She was already late by 30 minutes, so public transportation was not going to be an option. So she opted for the best one and her personal worst one, her ever loving two wheeler. She groaned internally at the sight of her two wheeler, she didn't even thought that she would drive it for her college. She has a unbreakable history of getting into accident (at least a minor one) whenever she drives it. So she avoided driving it on most occasion but today demands a different decision though. She was not going to miss her first day of her college. Before starting her bike, she prayed to whatever God present above to save the people and her from the may-be-going-to-happen accident. When she crossed her street in her bike a guy suddenly ran across her and got hit. There gone her hope to no-accident-today drive. It was not a big accident though, that guy was already getting onto his feet. But today it was really not Sahana's fault, she could swear on her damn bike that it was not her fault. That stupid guy came out of nowhere.
That guy was good 6 feet tall and towering over Sahana. His skin was flawless and olive color, a perfect skin tone. His dark curls stuck to his forehead like he ran 3 miles per hour, his was wearing white shirt and a black jean. That really brought out his gray color eyes. Sahana was literally staring at him. He waved his hand in front of her face. She shook her head and concentrated on the problem on hand. She looked at her hands because it was better than looking into his eyes.
"You are literally staring at me", the guy said with amusement.
Embarrassment made her face burn hot. He started complaining that she was in the wrong and hit a poor guy to death but internally he was enjoying this little moment and admiring her every moves. Slowly her embarrassment turned into anger and she snapped, "I'm not responsible for this accident stupid, you suddenly ran into my bike like a mad man escaped from the mental hospital. Don't you dare blame me".
She didn't even waited for his response, she turned the ignition on and drove away. That guy was stunned and his eyes widened at her answer. He just stood there and stared at her while she drove away.He was stunned but he liked her though. He smiled and went on his way. That's when he remembered why he was running like a mad man. He was late, so he started running again and boarded the bus to his destination. He was really happy that he met with an accident, so he happened to admire her for the shortest time he had with her.
Next day :
Sahana didn't forgot all about her handsome accident guy, she wanted smack herself in the head because a small smile crept it's way to her face when she thought about him after she reached her class.
She reached the apartment at 4.30 in the evening after her college. Swati came to the apartment yesterday evening. Sahana washed her face and pushed the thought of that guy to the back of her head. When she emerged from the bathroom, she saw her friend Swati smiling at a blank wall. Sahana and Swati were best friends and more like a sisters. They were both studying at A. K. college but enrolled in different departments, Sahana joined in mechanical engineering and Swati joined in electrical engineering. They have known each other from childhood. Now they were staying together in Sahana's parent's apartment to pursue their studies.
"Why are you smiling like an idiot?", Sahana narrowed her eyes on her best friend.
Swati continued to smile. Sahana threw a pillow at her. It smacked right in her face. She turned towards Sahana and her smile enlarged.
"Ok. You are scaring me now. Why are you smiling like this, do we need a doctor?", Sahana asked confused and concerned.
"Darling, I think I'm in love. It's love at first sight. He's in my class. His name is Vikrant. Please don't say no before you met him. Your opinion is very important", Swati blabbered like a love-stricken puppy. Sahana smiled at her and wished her good luck for getting the guy. If she succeeded in winning that guy over, Sahana promised that she would meet him and give them her blessings. Two weeks later :
Sahana was driving her two wheeler without any accident for almost 10 days after that one accident on her first day of college. So she drove her bike confidently this time, she didn't even pray before starting her bike. It was Sunday, so Sahana went to grocery shopping. She asked Swati to join her but Swati said that she had got some assignment to finish. While returning to her room from the shop, she turned left without turning on the left indicator and someone got hit. This time Sahana fell from bike and scratched her left arm. She winced when pain shot through her left arm. She lifted herself up and went to check on the other person who got hit. His right hand got a pretty deep cut near his elbow and it was bleeding, it looked like it might need a stitch.
"I'm so sorry, did you hurt anywhere else", Sahana asked in a panicked voice. She was trembling from the shock and pain and her eyes glistened with tears. When she looked at that person that got hit, she was beyond shock, it was same guy from the day one. When he saw her, his pain was masked by concern. He said that he was okay and got up from the ground.
He enquired about her injuries first. He made sure that she was not hurting anywhere else other than the scratch on her left arm. They both got to the near by clinic and got treatment. He didn't needed a stitch so that was good news so far. He was still staring at her with concern. Anyone can say he cared for her more than a stranger would care, by the way he was looking at her. Even though they were practically strangers, he felt like he knew her by heart. It was clearly Sahana's fault this time, so she didn't even dared to look into his eyes this time and asked sorry. She didn't turned her gaze from the ground even after got treatment from the clinic. He stopped walking and hurried in front of her. He smiled and lifted her face using his uninjured arm. A tremble pass through her body when he touched her. She had the same effect on him as much as he has on her. He haven't been in such close proximity with her. That's when he knew that this girl crawled her way into his heart in such short time. He didn't know how could someone that he only saw two times in his life had this much effect on him. It was like she had a hold on him in the shortest time ever possible in the history of the world. He smiled at her and kissed her forehead to calm her down. "I'm really ok. Don't worry about me. I didn't blame you this time, did I?", he said and smiled his astonishing smile. This small gesture reassured Sahana more than she would have expected. She smiled through her tears.
They both connected in the ways they didn't thought they would. They both knew that they were going to be more than friends after these two accidents. "What's your name, strange girl?" he asked. "Sahana", she said through her tears and smiled at him.
"What's your name?", Sahana asked for the first time meeting his gaze.
"I'm Vikrant and I'm doing my first year electrical engineering in A.K College", he smiled.
Sahana's smile evaporated from her face and asked the question, she didn't want an answer for, "Are you the only Vikrant in your class? Do you know Swati?"
"Yes, I'm the only one and the amazing one and I know Swati. Are you friends with her?", he asked with amusement.
A lump formed in her throat and tears threatened to fall again and she barely whispered, "Yes". Her heart ached but she knew that she didn't have a chance with Vikrant. Because she love Swati like her sister. Not everyone has happy and pleasant ending through accidents. It was only meant for movies not for real life. But she was happy that she met such a caring person like Vikrant in her life.
