You and the Party were a few days in the summer break, and you were trying to spend as much time together as you could. It was the summer after freshman year, sure, and you still had a lot of time. But you wouldn’t miss any chance to be together, right?

You were all sat by the table on Mike’s basement, trying to decide what to do. You didn’t have anything ready for another dnd campain and you had gotten tired of watching movies for the day.

You slammed your fist on the table, as you got an idea. Everybody looked at you with the sound, curious to hear what you had to say.

“Guys. The arcade! We still haven’t gone there!” You said, excited to do something different “Yeah! How didn’t we think of before?” Dustin said, high-fiving you. “It’ll be totally tubular” Lucas said, glaring at Max to see her annoyed look. You all ran upstairs and yelled Mrs. Wheeler goodbye before running out the house to get your bikes, El on the back of Mike’s, while Max followed you on her skateboard.

You got there and ran to the counter. Mike paid for us as we hadn’t planned the arcade visit, so I didn’t take any money to his house, and you all promised to pay him back. Then each of you we’re going to play a different game, when Lucas and you chose the same one. He smirked at you, and you got the look “Are you proposing what I think you are, Sinclair?” The boy smiled, sneakily “The loser pays the winner a milkshake?” You smiled at him “ooooh bring it on Bandana boy” his eyes narrowed at my nickname for him, and he smirked “I’m gonna freaking end you” he called, twirling his pointer and middle finger around the joystick to the game, Digdug, our favorite to challenge each other at since middle school.

I had made it through 84 levels before being killed. I glared at the large bold letters across the screen, telling me that I had lost. I kicked the side of the game in anger before Keith pecked his head around one of the other games and moaned about damaging property, blah blah blah. Lucas snickered and nudged past me to grab onto the joystick. "Poor y/n, looks like I'm gonna be enjoying a sweet milky treat," he bragged with a look of confidence in his eye that made the corner of mine twitch.

He ended up winning, getting to level 90, which had him telling the whole party about it and doing a victory dance that got everyone at the place looking at him. You weren’t really mad, though. You had lost, but hey, you got to see him embarrassing himself in front of everybody, right?

“I’m waiting for my victory milkshake” Lucas acted as if he was a king “I don’t got any money on me dumbass” The girl smirked “Tomorrow then And maybe we could, I don’t know, go to the movies too?” He said, looking at his feet.

“Are you proposing what I think you are, Sinclair?” He looked at you and grinned. “Call it a date” his mesmerizing eyes glimmered in assertiveness “Sounds lovely” it almost came out as a coo, as a giggle slipped past my lips, and both of you stood there, just looking at each other and blushing for some moments, an unfamiliar tightness taking over my stomach, making me queasy “Y/n? Lucas? Are you guys there?” Mike said, and you came back to the real world, realizing they might’ve been trying to talk to you for a long time now.

“Hi, uh, sorry. What’s up?” I studdered out, whipping towards their direction my back facing towards Lucas. “What’s up, lovebirds, is that we’re going to Wills to order some pizza. Are you coming or not?” Max said “I'd never deny some free pizza” Lucas said, and you all laughed “You’re not even ashamed, are you?” You asked him as you hopped on your bike to get on your way to Will’s place “It’s how I am. And you love it don’t you?” He bit back in a snarky know-it-all tone, and you spent all the way bickering with each other.

“Are they ever gonna stop?” Will said to Dustin “maybe when they finally get married and get over themselves” Dustin playfully rolled his eyes and our heads snapped in his direction, almost skidding to a stop before I placed my his correctly back on the peddles "Dustin Henderson, shut your mouth or i wont give you my pudding later" I pointed an accusing finger at him with narrowed eyes.

You could never imagine yourself with Lucas. Not him holding you in his arms or kissing your cheek, causing a warmth to run across your cheeks at his affection. The thought of marrying him was definitely out of the picture, and don't even count on kids.

So, if I felt this way, why does my stomach do flips when I see him? Why does my lips curl up in a sneaking smile when he achieves something. Max told me that she hates when Mike wins anything. So why don't I feel the same when Lucas does? My eyes glanced over at the said boy, and his smile caused his nose to crinkle, something inside me wanted that smile to be an effect of my cause.

Looking at the group, I wondered if they knew what I was feeling. I'd have to ask Max about it later. All i know is that the group would only call it a 'couples quarrel,' but it’s not like they minded it all that much. Unbeknownst to you, they knew that as much as you two would bicker and make jokes, you liked each other.

A lot.

And you both were really looking forward to that date.
