I swallowed some as I held out the volleyball for him. “Hey I remember you,” he said with a small smile “Oh yeah?” I said as I begin to play with a bracelet on my arm, my nerves at their peak. “Yeah, I’m trying to remember your name..” He hummed as he rubbed his chin, “It was something special, I don’t know many people with your name..” He said looking off as if he was trying really hard to remember. I simply stared off at him, taking in everything from his voice to small beads of sweat that trailed down the side of his face. “Crystal!” he said after his silence making me giggle. “No, but you’re close,” I said shaking my head finding it hard to stop smiling. “Fuck it, I give up.. What’s your name?” he asked in a humble tone. “It’s Diamond.” I said blushing some. “Diamond,” he said nodding. “Now I remember.” “Bruno!” He turned around quickly as someone yelled for him from the courts. “I’m coming..” he said as he began to walk backwards towards it again. “I’ll see you around alright?” I nodded some and waved a little keeping my hand very low.

Michelle grabbed my shoulder as she finally got down to me. “I was calling you, who was that?” I continued to stare off at him. “Bruno,” I said softly completely loving the fact that I finally knew his name. Michelle gave me a look, “You’re in love aren’t you?” I looked at her and frowned some, “No.. I just met him.” She waved a finger at me, “Don’t act like you don’t fall in love with everything.” I laughed some shaking my head as I looked away. “Don’t worry not this time.” I turned around and began to walk back up and Michelle followed. Before we could make it halfway I turned around to the sound of my name, from that voice.

He smiled up at us as he held the ball in his hands, “Do you ladies wanna join?” I looked at her and then back to him. “Sure,” I yelled back instantly regretting my answer. I knew this would be the perfect time for me to embarrass myself. However, to my surprise the game went well it felt like heaven being able to hear him laugh and joke. I started to be infatuated with just being in his presence. After the game was over we all sat around talking about the game and class that started next week. I stayed quiet mostly, feeling a lot more shy when I was around him.

“Hey Bruno, what’s up?” a guy came up and said making us all look up. “What’s up Phil,” Bruno said with a huge smile as he got up giving him a hug. “Hey everyone.. this Phil, my brother from another mother.” He said as he pointed to him. “Nice to meet you ladddiesss,” He said in a funny voice. “Nice to meet you too,” I said quietly with a small laugh.

Phil went on to talk to us about the game of volleyball and somehow he had me drawn in as if I was watching a TV. “And to make a long story short, it’s all about having fun!” Phil said. “You wanna know what’s more fun?” Bruno said as he got up putting the volleyball down where he sat. Phil took a step back holding up his hands, “Don’t hurt me now.” Bruno laughed some and shook his head, “Beat boxing.” I raised my eyebrow as I looked at him, and others just laughed. “Beat-boxing?” I said some confusion in my voice. He made eye contact with me, causing my stomach to produce the lightest butterflies, “Yeah.. you ever seen those guys that are just sick with it on the music channels, like they don’t miss a beat.” I just shook my head and smiled softly at him. It was somewhat relaxing to just watch him talk. “Oh and we’re a band,” he added. “But, there are only two of you?” Brandy said pointing to the both of them. “A band is more then one person in my opinion,” Phil said looking at Bruno for confirmation. He smiled some, “Yeah what he said.”

“So you said you guys are a band, what do you play?” Heather asked looking serious. “I sing and play guitar, and Phil backs me up with his awesome background vocals you know, we just did it high school and shit why not keep going.” “Don’t forget I’m a background dancer too,” he said as he stared to dance. We all laughed at him.

“So you can sing?” I said crossing my legs. He nodded some and gave me a look that I didn’t quite understand but I liked it. I shrugged some and sat up a little more, “Sing us something, right now.”
