𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐂𝐊𝐎𝐅𝐅 𝐆𝐈𝐑𝐋𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃

𝟴: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀

The bell had just rang meaning it was time for lunch. Kenzie made her way to the cafeteria. She walked into the crowded room. She already had a weird feeling in her gut. Crowds weren't really her thing. One wrong move and her identity could be expose to the whole world.

Kenzie scanned the lunch room. In the middle of the lunch room was a table with Lily and the two other girls who were messing with her earlier. Bella however wasn't there with them. To the left of them was a table where Annie and Johnny were sitting at. Annie waved her hand to Kenzie however Kenzie just ignored her and walked out of the cafeteria. That quick turn out the cafeteria door caused her to bump into Bella.

"Kenzie, are you okay?"

Remembering what happend during gym Kenzie just ignored the girl and countiuned to walk away.

"Kenzie wait up I know your mad but I didn't know Lily was going to do that."

"Then why didn't you do anything to stop her."

"Well it's hard Lily's my older sister it's hard to tell her no. Especially when her family did so much for me."

"But you have different last names; were you adopted?

Bella looked down at the floor when Kenzie asked her that personal question.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you," Kenzie said placing her hand on Bella shoulder.

"Not it's okay. I just don't really like to tell people that. Anyway do you want to have lunch in the Libary today. I want to introduce you to my friend."

"Aren't your friends in the cafeteria?"

"You mean Lily's friends. I only have one friend and his name is Asher. Follow me i'll introduce you to him.

Bella grabbed Kenzie by the hand and dragged her into the library. The library shelves were tall and close together, forming mazes. Walking between them was somewhat comfortable. Kenzie could memorized each books by their covers, titles, and scent. They walked all the way to the back of the room. Standing by a window was a boy with a lolipop in his mouth. He was completely distracted and didn't notice the girls were looking at him.

"Earth to Asher," Bella said waving her hand in Asher face. "I want to introduce you to someone. Asher this is Kenzie. Kenzie this is Asher."

"Isn't this the girl you guys pounded balls at during gym."

"That sounded very inappropriate also you know that wasn't me. I would never bully another person," Bella said starting at the floor again.

Kenzie could easily tell that Bella was used to being bossed around. She barley made any decisions by herself and the way she always looked at the floor after every sentence showed that she was always getting yelled at.

"Hi Kenzie, I'm Asher are you okay? I saw what happened today. Your lucky Johnny stepped in before you got hurt."

"Heh yah, I didn't know you were in our gym class."

"Yah I usually sit on the bench. Gym isn't really my thing since I can't really participate in it anyway."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm sick."

"Oh like a cold."

"Yah like a cold that last forever."

Kenzie's smile quickly faded. Asher noticed the shock registered on her face. A small smile played on his lips, I guess he gets that reaction a lot, Kenzie thought to herself.

"Hey I never said I was dying," he chuckled.

It wasn't what he said that cheered Kenzie up but the fact that she wasn't alone anymore made her smile to herself.

"So how long have you been frineds for?" Kenzie asked trying to start a conversation.

"Since kindergarten she was so shy and had nobody to talk to. After that we went to the same elementary school and now high school. I can't get rid of her no matter how hard I try," Asher joked.

"I like being in the same school as you," Bella said as she took a bite of her lunch.

"Only because I bring you snacks," Asher said sucking on how lollipop.

"It must be nice to have such an amazing friend," Kenzie said amazed by their friendship.

"Why do you say that as if you never had a friend before?" Asher curiously looked at the girl.

Kenzie looked at them with a nervous smile.

"Omg you've never had a friend before. Don't worry you have us," Bella said offering Kenzie a piece of her sandwich. Kenzie nicely declined.

The three spent the rest of thier lunch period engaged into small talk. Kenzie got to know almost everything about Bella and Asher. The rest of the school day went by quick. Most of her classes were either with Bella or Asher sometimes Annie. Luckily she didn't have any other classes with Johnny. She did have one with Hayden but she didn't bother to even look at him. The last bell had just rang and it was time to go home. Kenzie was not excited for a long car ride home with Johnny.

Standing infront of Asher locker was Kenzie and Bella. They were engaged in a deep conversation.

Kenzie was so distracted with her new friends she didn't hear Lauren who was standing behind her trying to catch her attention.

"Kenzie!!" she yelled tapping her on the shoulder.

"Lauren I'm sorry I didn't see you there. Whats up?"

"Johnny's driving us home so I wanted to walk to his car together?"

"Oh okay."

Kenzie turned around and waved goodbye to Asher and Bella. She grabbed her bag that was laying on the floor and followed Lauren out of the school building.

"I see you made some new friends."

"Yep Asher and Bella are amazing."

"Hmm I can see. I heard about what happened in Gym are you okay?"

"Yep i'm completely fine. It's going take a lot more than a couple volleyballs and rude girls to get rid of me. Besides I honestly forgot about the whole situiation."

Kenzie lied through her teeth. Of course she was hurt. Of course she didn't feel okay. She was even more upset that Lauren and Johnny abandoned her on her first day. But what did she expect, the world didn't revolve around her. The two girls arrived in the front of the school. Johnny was already in the car waiting for them.

The girls entered the car this time both of them in the backseat. Kenzie didn't even look at Johnn once. She knew that any sudden eye contact would make her feel even more worse. He wanted her out of his life and that what she planned to do. The car ride was even more silent than before. Kenzie spent the whole time starting out the window. Lauren scrolled through her phone and Johnny had his airpods in while driving. The whole time he use the car mirror to stare at Kenzie. He wanted to apoloigize for freaking out but saying sorry isn't something he usually did.
