Days into the Apocalypse : 1

Uni hadn't been able to leave the lab in two weeks, and now he was finally able to leave and get his errands done for the first time since his bosses recruited them for the testing of new pharmaceutical drugs. He didn't what the drugs was going to be used for, but it was either partake in the clinical trial or lose his job.

Uni wasn't sure how legal that had been, but he knew he wouldn't be able to live off his second form of income, an artist's salary. So, naturally, he partook in the testing like any sane person in his position would.

Uni wasn't used to being the one tested on, usually he was the one creating the medicine in the lab to be distributed, so he had only hoped that the way his skin itched and his teeth ached was normal. But, he still had things to do rather than contemplate his safety and personal health, such as get to the mall and buy everything he needed to after spending so long away from his apartment.

Uni just wanted a few new sketchbooks and some snacks, maybe even some new clothes that won't make his skin itch from the testing.

But, of course, no. Something bad had to have happened. One minute he was carrying a plastic bag of his goods while going up the stairs, and the next a woman had launched herself and a man over the edge of the second floor ledge.

He heard a man screech in surprise from the top of the stairs, along with many other shouts of fear. Uni had seen enough horror movies to know to run up the stairs as the woman had picked herself up off the ground, the man's blood covering her face, and had looked his way like he was a fresh meal.

"Oh, dear lord-"Uni shouted as the woman reached for him, having following him up the stairs, and dragged a bloodied hand across his sleeve. At the short distance between them, he noticed that her part of cheek was gone, and her teeth gnawing together on the inside.

Uni grabbed his chips and mentally apologized to the thick books inside his bag as he chucked said bag at the woman's face, knocking her over and then sending her sprawling down the steps.

"Jesus, man! Did you seriously take time to save your food?"Another man shouted, pulling Uni up the last few steps as the once dead-looking man who was knocked off the ledge began to rise with dull eyes and a snarl. He trudged up the steps as well, the woman moving much slower thanks to Uni's now wasted money spent on those sketchbooks.

Uni looked up at a faceless man who wore a hat, and Uni had wished he could be surprised over the lack of a face, but he was sure he'd seen a stranger at Unit Pharmaceuticals. Uni breathed heavily and said, "I've seen enough movies to know we need to get out of here."

"Over here!"A woman shouted off to the side, waving them over from the entrance of a clothing shop that had a wide range of strange outfits. She held up the metal gate as two other men stood alongside her. The man and Uni hurried over, ducking beneath the grate before the blue-haired woman slammed it shut and hooked the locked latch. Five more 'people' approached, each looking more grotesque than the other. The woman and another stranger in a green and purple jester's outfit reached for the second panel that had no spaces and was simply a sheet of metal. Very convenient.

"God, I hate today so much."Uni groaned as everyone inside took a breath and processed what had just occurred, he continued as he tugged at his blue hair, "I spend two weeks at the lab, and when I finally try to get some shopping done, this shit happens..."

"Calm down."The woman says, clutching a hand to her chest as she calmed her breath, she turned to their mismatched group, "Um, yeah, that happened. My name's Ashlie."

"Uni."Uni greeted with an awkward wave.

"Davis."The faceless man who had helped him earlier was introduced. He readjusted his hat and red tie and cleared his throat, he looked towards Uni, "But really, did you actually save your food before attacking that thing?"
