Days into the Apocalypse : 5

The remaining survivors and military soldiers were in a state of shock, some opting to stay in the ruins of their safe zone while others took the chance to make a run for it.

They learned two things. One, people did in fact turn into zombies via bite, and two, the military didn't do too well against preventing zombie outbreaks as well as others originally thought they would.

The D-Gang and Uni's gaggle of friends were exhausted, having fought about what seemed like a horse to save who was left. Uni collapsed onto the ground, sitting on the asphalt wearily as he dully commented, "That went well."

"We're covered in blood."Davis pointed out, looking down at the blood now staining his clothes. At least he was wearing mostly black.

"Do you happen to have a washer and dryer at your apartment?"Ashlie asked as she sorrowfully looked down at the red stain on her cat-socks.

"In the basement."Duni answered, he groaned tiredly, "Ugh. I guess the apartment building is our best bet. For now, at least."

"I'm totally passing out as soon as we get into clean clothes."Don deadpanned.

"Wanna piggy-back?"Dick offered.

Don considered this for less than a second before grumbling, opening his arms out, and then allowing Dick to carry him on his back as Don crossed his pitchfork over to the other man to carry for him. He looked grumpy, from both tiredness and the fact that the others saw him being carried, but didn't say anything else.

"I didn't see Linsey or Leah."Ashlie said glumly, "Hopefully they got out of here."

"You could try calling them again once we get back?"Jon suggested with a weak grin. Despite his weary state, the positive smile seemed to make her feel better.

"Let's head back."Dashlie decides, "I swear, I'm gonna collapse if we don't get back anytime soon."

"At least we got some extra food and water out of helping these people."Duni says as he and the others began their trek back to the apartment building.

"Stolen food and water."Uni corrected, but he made no move to try and return said supplies.

"It's still food and water, stolen or not."Duni says rather cheerfully.

Later in the day, when both groups made it back to the apartment with thankfully very little zombies in their way, they all settled in Uni's apartment once they'd each borrowed spare clothes from both Uni and Duni's apartment. Luckily, there was enough given the fact that the D-Gang practically had their own closet space for the clothes they constantly left behind.

"I'm just gonna change into my spare outfit I got from the thrift shop."Jon decided once the others put their bloodied clothes into a basket, "I'll be right back!"

They all, besides the resident androids, gave their varied responses of pained and tired groans from their spots laid out on either the ground (Davis, Nick, and Ashlie), the recliner (Don and Dick), or the couch (Duni, Uni, and Dashlie). Dawn and Ddawn, not having been cursed with a human's stamina, sat at the table across from each other.

Jon, seeming to somehow have the most energy out of the group, hurried to the bathroom after snatching up his extra set of clothes. Jon shut the bathroom door behind him and let out a short sigh, quickly changing into the pink/golden jester's outfit and folded up the bloodied one after emptying its pockets and placing his varying amounts of things into this newer outfits own pockets.

Jon set the clothes down on the sink and grimaced slightly. He rolled up his sleeve, staring down at the teeth marks now marring his forearm.

Jon had never been sick a day in his life, even on the days he most definitely should've.

He'd be fine, he knew that. The others didn't. They didn't know why he would be so sure that he wouldn't turn into a zombie, and they wouldn't know why Jon didn't turn into one in the minutes after he was initially bitten unlike every other survivor around them who didn't escape the safe zone in time.

They wouldn't know.
And they would never have to.

Jon rolled his sleeve down, smiled brightly to himself in the mirror, and left the bathroom.
