Days into the Apocalypse : 6
They ended up waking up from a collective nap some time past one in the morning. Ddawn and Dawn went onto the roof at some point during their slumber to charge like a pair of solar panels, and similar to how Don and Dick had remained close on the recliner, the others seemed to gravitate closer to each other in the midst of their tired mind-sets.
As it turns out, they all had a lot of things to talk about with each other.
"Wait, so, you worked at a plant nursery?"Ashlie questioned as she looked up at the couch where Jon laid across the other three occupants sitting there, "But, before that, you worked at a circus?"
"Yep!"Jon confirms, "Ask Nick, he knows I have mad juggling skills."
"How do you go from a circus performer to a florist?"Davis asked, sitting with his back against the far end of the couch.
"I just felt like I needed a change."Jon answers smoothly, how honest that answer was is up for debate, "Though, I'm glad I did, because that's how I met Nick. I swear, he practically went there twice a week. Sometimes even more than that."
"No questions asked about your whole...getup?"Don asked with a raised brow, he wasn't exactly looking at Jon as he was speaking due to the fact that he refused to move from where he was entangled with Dick on the recliner, "I mean, I was a barista at a spooky-themed coffee shop so they hired me on the spot cause of my look, but at what was basically a flower shop?"
"The owner didn't seem to mind."Jon says with a shake of his head, "It was a really nice place to work, even if I was only there for more than a year."
"I was a dance teacher."Dick tells them, to some of their surprises based on his general attitude, "I taught the little tiny children how to do, like, the waltz and other fancy shit like that."
"That's so cool."Nick laughed into his hands, "No, really, I think that's a really nice job to have. Much nicer than mine, anyway."
"What about you, Davis?"Uni asked curiously, seeing as they were taking the time to get to know one another.
"Ah, this may sound weird, but I was a body guard."Davis answered, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. He continued to elaborate, "I would get hired to basically keep a client safe and all that. I was basically a bouncer, but for a person rather than a bar."
"Did you have to fight a lot of people?"Ashlie asks, sounding a bit concerned, but, for some reason, it seemed like she was asking for another reason rather than the concern for Davis' safety.
"Yeah, but I mostly used my words to intimidate them out of backing off."Davis answers honestly, making the blue-haired girl look relived, "I didn't want to have to use my fists, unless they tried to attack me first, that is."
"That sounds cool as fuck."Dashlie says with a nod out of respect, "I worked at a butcher's shop, which is why all this blood and yucky stuff doesn't bother me too much."
"Some steak would be really nice right now."Duni groaned, "All we've been eating is junk food and really quick meals cause we're all shit at cooking, except for Don."
They went into a long lull of silence after that, once their conversation died down. The windows in Uni's apartment were covered with curtains, and small bits of light came through from the shining moon, and they were content.
For a moment, there wasn't the threat of dying, or becoming undead, and they were just relaxed. The groans were still distantly heard below every now and again, but during the past six days it was beginning to become normal.
