Days into the Apocalypse : 2
Uni ended up switching out of watch duty with Nick some hours before the morning, causing Jon some distress as he had been previously using his friend as a pillow. Though, the problem was soon resolved with Jon deciding that Uni would do as his replacement pillow.
Nick later had woke them up at nine in the morning, telling them, "Those things outside seemed to have stopped scratching."
"Think they're gone?"Davis asked blearily, groaning as he stretched out the soreness you'd inevitably get from sleeping on the floor.
"Maybe?"Nick guessed with a short shrug, "It's not likely that they went very far, they're all probably still in the mall."
"At least they only seem to go as fast as a power walk."Uni huffed lightly, keeping his hands inside his jacket pocket, "We'd just have to sprint to the next stores and grab whatever we need before leaving this hellhole."
"We can split into two groups."Ashlie suggested, "Three of us go gather supplies, like food and water, and the other two will go get weapons, anything we could defend ourselves with."
"We can go get the food."Nick says, gesturing between him and Jon. Considering they have known each other prior to the whole mess, it made sense they'd want to stick together.
"I'll go with you."Uni offered, he then laughed and commented, "I was here to get some groceries, actually..."
"Then Davis and I will find us some weapons."Ashlie decided. Davis nodded in agreement.
"I guess we should...open the door."Jon said, a bit uncertain, as him and Nick moves towards the entrance and slowly began to pull it up as quietly as possible. Uni ducked down and looked under it as it rose, letting them know he didn't see anything waiting outside.
"Let's just make this fast. Everyone meet at the entrance of the mall in fifteen minutes."Ashlie told them, it seemed like an order, and none of them argued against it, "Don't die."
"I was considering it, but thank you, that you changed my mind."Jon laughed.
They split off into their groups and tried their best to discreetly sneak across the mall. Looking over the edge of the railway from the second floor they could see the things, the zombies, shambling about down there. There was a lot of blood, and from the looks of that mess it seemed like they definitely had found other people in the mall to focus on other than them.
Uni quietly gagged at the sight of a woman with the bone of her leg stuck out yet still carried about as if nothing was wrong.
"There."Nick said, pointing at a small grocery shop that was at the mall. Uni wasn't sure if that was a common thing for a mall, at least not from where he was from, but at least it was convenient.
The three of them entered the shop, noticing some of the chip bags and candy packages torn open and spread across the floor. It seemed like even the undead enjoyed sweets. Uni found an abandoned black backpack, swiping it up and dumping out the contents so he couldn't begin to stash food inside it. He chuckled lightly to himself, "Lucky me."
Jon seemed to stuff multiple packs of candy and crackers into his various amounts of pockets in his clothes. He had no idea how many pockets it held, but Uni wasn't going to question it too much. Nick helped find some more healthy snacks, such as granola bars, and stuffed them inside the backpack. Once they found some bottles of water, Nick continued to add those, too.
