At the end June 2012 I had a letter inviting me to an enrolment day at crosskeys campus to enrol on the Administration and I.T course.
When I got there I was introduced by teachers who would be teaching me on the course and I also had a tour of the college.
Now, September came around and it was time for me to start my first proper day at college I was very nervous, I was not a very confident person.
I didn't want to talk to anyone nor " push my self around" and so I was assigned to a Learning Support Assistant, he would push me around everywhere and support me with my work, after a few weeks I started coming out of my shell, doing things for myself and mixing with different people.. everything was great till the one day when everything went horribly wrong.... dun.. dun... dun!!
Everything was going very well, I used to get up and travel back and fourth to college. Each time I attended my classes I felt happier and more confident to speak to people and take part in activities that the college was offering.
I joined the student union where I became Disability officer then a Events co ordinator.
My role involved me organising events for students in college and attending regular meetings with other student union officers about the future of our student union, I did this for a bit but had to give up my role and quite college after a few weeks.
A few weeks after I started experiencing severe headaches, kept fainting and being sick... what could this be? No one knows! So my mum booked an appointment with our GP at Bellevue Surgery.
We went to the appointment and explained my symptoms to the doctor and he said " it's best if you contact your neurologist and ask him to have a look at her" so we did.
When I got to the University of Cardiff hospital the doctor looked at me and said " you don't look right" I said "what do you mean?" She said " your one eye looks wonky, it isn't following the other one, I think your shunt is blocked" so I said oh ok and she left.
A few hours later I started having fits so the nurse came and did my blood pressure and took my temperature, at this point I had 3 fits again, two in front of her so she called the doctor.
A few hours later they advised that I should have a CT Scan, in the scan they found the problem this was that my shunt is blocked and so they took me to theatre in the night around 8:00pm and here's where I had the 5 hour operation to replace my shunt, this meant I'd have to spend 2 weeks having bed rest.
After two weeks I started healing and feeling better and so I was allowed home.. yay! I resumed to my normal activities, in my case college. I was happy because I got to see my friends again and catch up with the work I had missed from being off so long. I didn't last long there again though.. I had to come out of college again!!
