Despite all the struggles I went through in my personal life I still carried on. I started getting back into the things I used to do before my accident, and because I didn't give up I achieved many things in my life, learning how to swim ( I went for 6 years then stopped). I got scared of the water after drowning so didn't go back. I took part in the Cardiff Half Marathon and the Newport 10k.
I also took part in Newport's first ever Walk for Dementia and was part of a women's Exhibition in Newport.
A Newport based photographer called Kamila Jarczak asked me to sit for her photographic exhibition Women of Newport, which celebrated inspiring women in the city. I had a really fun time having hair and make up done or the photoshoot, and met lots of people at the exhibitions private showing.
I was recognised for the commitment and time I give to local and national charities, whether fundraising or campaigning for them, I have done this since 2001. Taking part in all of these activities enabled me to learn new skills, having a chance in taking work placements, and receive a lot of recognition from the public, family and my friends.
I even received an award in 2019 for my volunteering efforts.
I also raised money for my new wheelchair and appeared in my local South Wales Argus Newspaper quite regularly.
I have a Facebook page called All About Ayesha, where I post updates about what I'm doing, videos, and I also use it to raise awareness about many different health campaigns.
