Dylan moved away from me turning to look at Austin who was a few feet away from us.
"What's going on here?" Austin asked looking pissed.
I opened my mouth to answer him but this piece of shit beat me to it.
"Here? Nothing at all. We were just talking and things got a little heated. You know. Your girlfriend's really irresistible. She's so-"
"Don't you dare say one more word about her. You said it, she's my girlfriend. Okay, mine!"
Austin cut him off moving dangerously close to his face.
"What can I say? You're lucky. She's fuckable, so you better get her into your bed soon before someone else beats you to it. Or maybe someone has already-"
Dylan's mouth was shut by the hard punch Austin just threw at him, landing just below his left eye. Man, that was hard. It surely would have knocked out a tooth or two if it landed anyway near the mouth.
"I hate it when I have to repeat myself to assholes. Do not say a word about her."
Austin said through gritted teeth. He looked so angry. It sure feels good to know he punched this asshole for me, but then again why would he do that? He doesn't have to be so angry on my account. Last time I checked, we were nothing other than fake lovers. He never ceases to confuse me.
In a huff, Dylan has thrown a punch Austin's way landing on one corner of his mouth. I moved ahead to get in between them but Austin jumped on Dylan in complete fury knocking him to the ground. I can't just stand here and watch them fight.
"Austin please stop, he's not worth it!"
I said but he didn't even look like he heard a word I said.
"Austin stop!"
I shouted again as Dylan flipped Austin over so he could be on top. I looked around just to see that the few people who were left in the school had formed a small crowd and were watching the fight.
Relief washed over me as soon as I spotted Brandon running slightly towards our direction. I looked back at the two just to find Austin throwing a punch at Dylan.
"Austin stop it."
Brandon said quickly pulling Austin away from Dylan who looked just as angry as Austin. Another guy approached who kept a hold on Dylan. I assume he's a friend of his.
"Calm down man, what's gotten into you?" Brandon asked as he loosened his hold on Austin who seemed to have calmed down a bit.
I gave Dylan one last distasteful look before walking away. I stopped at the school gate and just stood there. I had so many things in my mind right now I didn't even know which one I should put my focus on.
The fight. I can't seem to put any logical information to it. Austin had no reason to hit Dylan. He very much deserved it for whatever indecent things he was saying about me, but why would Austin hit him for saying indecent stuff about me? I mean it's just me. Austin will never fight to defend some girl who was being harassed. Or maybe that's just what I thought.
But he made it clear to me in the library that I meant nothing to him. That whatever I thought had happened between us was non existent. He went crawling back to Ashley right after comforting me during my emotional diarrhoea. And the way he looked so angry back there, it looked as if he actually cared. It didn't look like he was just playing his overprotective boyfriend part. His anger looked genuine. No matter how absurd that might sound. Which confuses me all the more.
It's clear that I care about him more than I'd like to let on.
"Can we go?"
Austin said from behind me and I turned to look at him. He had dried blood on the side of his mouth and I hoped it didn't feel as bad as it looked.
"I'll go in my own car."
I said not knowing if what I'd say if I were to ride next to him. He'll just confuse me further and that's the last thing I needed right now.
"But-"
"I'd be right after you."
I cut him off sounding much harsher than I intended. I walked to my car and I glanced at him after opening my door just to find him standing exactly where I left him staring at me with a blank expression.
"Are you coming or not?" That snapped him from whatever trance he was lost in and walked to his car.

"My Word, what happened to you son?"
Grace asked with concern as soon as she noticed the dried blood on Austin's mouth."Alice, you took so long, what happened?" She asked turning to me.
"Nothing happened. I'm fine."
Austin answered in a pissed off tone. Couldn't he be a little bit kinder to his mother?
"You're bleeding and you're telling me you're fine?" Grace asked as if Austin has just said the most absurd thing ever.
"Well mom, I got into a fight with a guy who was saying indecent stuff about her but she isn't even grateful for it whatsoever. Either ways you're welcome Ali."
He said before storming off to his room. I just stared at where he had disappeared dumbfounded. He's pissed because I didn't thank him? Because he thinks I'm ungrateful for his effort? Well it's not like I'm acting otherwise but I didn't think he'd be angry about that.
"I've never seen him get so angry over a girl before. And much less get involved in a fight for a girl. He really does love you Alice, it's written all over his face."
Grace said making me cringe inside. Love seriously? She definitely wouldn't be saying that if she knew we were just fake dating.
"But I think he's too angry to have me around now so I should probably just take my leave."
"No no no no. I'm sure you're happy he defended you when he fought that guy, so just let him know you are grateful and everything will be fine. Okay?"
I manage to nod.
"I'll check up on him." I said and she smiled at me.
"I'll go check up on that naughty little girl too."
As soon as she left, I heard my phone buzz. I took it and opened the text.

Apologies for making y'all wait again. And yeah news flash_ Alice will now refer Austin's mom as Grace instead of aunt Grace. I noticed it does sound sort of absurd so I'll stick with Grace. I'll change the previous chapters sometime later but let's take it from here😳💜 I lurve y'all fellows💜
