"I'm not getting this."
Sonia said taking a pillow and laying it on her crossed legs so she can lean her elbows on it.
"Which part? That I'm Austin's girlfriend or that I may or may not have spent the night here?"
I asked staring at her. I could still see Sonia's surprised face from earlier when she saw me. So as soon as we've had breakfast, she decided to drag me up to her room and bombard me with questions.
"So you are saying, you're Austin's girlfriend. I understand that but as far as I'm concerned-"
I gave her this weird look. The way she says her things. Plus we told her last time we were dating reason why I'm not getting this whole confusion from her.
"Austin doesn't have girlfriends. He only has what do you call them? Ahhhm right... flings. Austin only has flings which brings me to the part where you need to explain if you're just one of his flings or you're really the girlfriend."
Sonia said putting emphasis on her last two words. I gasped at her choice of words. I'm guessing she watched some other movie of some bad boy who only had flings or something similar.
"I'm his girlfriend Soni. As in g-i-r-l-f-r-"
"You don't have to spell it, I know."
She said choosing to stay awfully quite. I couldn't really read her expression since she was looking down at her fluffy pillow but she seemed to be frowning.
"I get it. Maybe you don't like me although I thought you did or maybe I just overlooked our convo from last time at the park. You acted as if you were happy I was hanging out with your brother. Or maybe your opinion of me has just changed and you think I'm not good enough for your brother although it should be him who's not good enough for me-"
"That's interesting."
She decided to cut me off.
"The fact that I think you don't like me?"
"Yes, that and the way you're blabbering."
"So you don't like me then."
I said feigning a sad face because I somehow knew the girl was fond of me. Otherwise I wouldn't be here with her. In her room.
"Ofcourse I like you. I don't think I've ever liked anyone more than you. Except my family ofcourse. I was just trying to figure out if you guys are really serious about each other or you were just giving my hopes up and you'd leave as soon as I began to like you. It happens in a lot of movies but I guess you're not just a fling in this case. You're the only girl whom he introduced to mom and the only one who has come here more than once. That counts for something right?"
She finished her little speech.
"Now you're the one blabbering. But you are right. That counts for something."
"So when do we start with mission PYB and mission PBB?"
She asked and I eyed her in confusion.
"Ofcourse. Do I have to teach you everything? Mission prank your boyfriend and mission prank big brother."
I couldn't help but laugh at the things Soni can come up with.
"Ofcourse Soni. I'm game."
"You guys seem like you're having a lot of fun."
Austin said entering the room. I couldn't help the heat that spread to my cheeks at the sight of him. We haven't really had a proper conversation since last night. I was wondering what I'll explain to aunt Grace when I went down for breakfast but Austin decided to just tell her his own tale judging from the constant knowing looks and smirks I received from his mom.
"You can join us. If-"
"I'll join you."
Austin replied hastily throwing me a glance. We fell into a smooth conversation talking about random things and I couldn't help but enjoy their company more than I probably should. My thoughts quickly drifted to last night. The heated kisses...how I wanted those moments to last forever. Ridiculous I know but I just couldn't help it. One more kiss turned into a hundred more kisses. It almost escalated to something more, almost but we both stopped the kisses from going too far. And it took so much energy to do just that.
"Alice?"
Sonia called me which I'm assuming is not the first time.
"Ahhhhmmm... you said something?"
I asked her and I could feel Austin's gaze on me.
"I was saying, you could still spend the night here if you like. Mom doesn't mind."
He said keeping his expression blank. And do you mind? I was tempted to ask. I wondered what he was thinking since his facial expression wasn't giving out anything.
"And risk waking up to another one of your boners? No thank you."
I said without thinking. Only when I saw his expression did the words I said fully register in my head. Not like it's a lie though. And that was mostly why our conversations today were somehow awkward or so.
"Never in a million years did I imagine you saying something like that."
He said with a chuckle. His expression changed from surprised to amused in a second. I just shrugged not knowing what to say.
"Ahhhhmmm... can I ask you guys something?"
Sonia said. I almost forgot she was here. I nodded and Austin raised his eyebrows gesturing her to go on.
"What's a boner?"
She asked earning gasps from both Austin and I. Austin frowned at me, certainly blaming for talking about boners in front of her.
"I think we should go. We've been here for long and Ali has to go home. C'mon let's go."
Austin said getting ahold of my hand and pulling me gently to the, probably remembering my cuts.
"So you're not going to tell me then."
She frowned.
"It's an adult word Sonia. You don't have to know it."
Austin said holding the door knob with his other hand.
"I'm not a kid anymore. Just tell me what a bo-"
"Don't say it Soni. You just have to know that it's a bad word and I don't even know why I used it. It's a very bad word."
I said hoping she'll drop it.
"But I'm a bad boy's sister. I can use bad words."
She pouted. This girl honestly needs an oscar in her choice of words.
"Bye Sonia."
Austin said before closing the door and turning to me.
"Did you really have to say that? Now she'll go on about that word forever. You've definitely ruined my utmost peace in this house because that girl will never leave me alone."
"Relax. No need to be so dramatic. It was just a slip of the tongue and anyways you should be glad she hasn't asked that in front of your mom. Imagine how awkward that will be."
I couldn't help but laugh at the thought and Austin chuckled as well. And only now was I really noticing just how his eyes lit up when he laughed and how incredibly sexy he looked when- I quickly averted my eyes from him and walked downstairs. Why was I even staring at him. Screw me and my thoughts.
