My fists fly through the air before slamming against the punch bag in front of me. It had been hours since we had successfully rescued Simon from the vamps. And it had been hours since I'd seen the others return. I haven't spoken to any of them, I'm not really sure what I would say to be honest. I stormed off, I was weak to my emotions and stormed off. And that was because of the Goddamn vampire venom. It makes me weak.
As soon as I had got back to the Institute I changed into my sports bra and leggings and began training straight away. Working up a sweat had helped me overcome cravings before, and it also helped flush the venom out of my system.
I grunt as I raise my leg and kick the bag. I then send another series of punches and kicks at it, not caring about how tired I am.
"Have you slept yet?" A voice says from across the room. I don't need to look to know that it belongs to Alec.
"I'll sleep later." I say before throwing more and more punches at the bag.
"You've been going non-stop for the past 48 hours. You need to sleep." He says with concern seeping into his voice.
"That's a lie. I slept before we went to find Dot." I grunt kicking the side of the bag.
"You slept for thirty minutes, Mae," He says. I throw a final punch at the bag before turning to face him. He leans up against the wall by the entrance of the training room. His gaze never leaving my eyes.
"You know you can talk to me, right?" He says. I sigh and wipe my hand across my forehead, trying to remove some of the dripping sweat. I think it's safe to say that any vampire venom I once had inside me is now gone."And you can talk to me," I say grabbing the towel from the side of the room. I dry my body from sweat and walk over to him. "Don't think I haven't noticed the tension between you and my brother," I say. He looks at me with a grim expression.
"The only person he hasn't got tension with is Clary. And I think we both know why that is." He says causing me to roll my eyes at the mention of her. I run the towel over my face again quickly as I feel beads of sweat leave my hairline.
"I don't trust her. I knew something wasn't right about her the moment I saw her." I say as we walk side by side towards the heart of the Institute.
"I don't get how they can be so quick to trust Valentine's daughter." Alec says in agreement. As we reach the center of the Institute I notice Simon storm past with Clary chasing after him.
"Looks like the Mundie drama continues," I say giving Alec a side glance. He chuckles at my comment and we continue to get closer. Jace stands awkwardly by them, watching them argue between themselves.
"What's going on?" Alec asks him.
"I don't know, something about me being Captain America, and then some squared jaw guy who didn't do his own homework." He says with a shrug. I return my focus back onto the two mundies.
"Clary, we've had each other's backs, our whole lives. We've never needed anyone. Let me help you. We don't..." Simon says looking up at us. "...need these hot people." He shakes his head and looks away from us. "We don't need these people," He says again. I stare at him confused, but as I feel a jumper hit my arm, I realise my presence had made him lose his train of thought. I glance over at Alec who is frowning at me. Is he pissed that Simon called me hot? I take the jumper and put it on, zipping it up over my abs. I then stare at it with confusion.
"This isn't mine," I say to him.
"I know. It's mine," He says turning away from the mundies and walking over towards the monitors, letting the two of them have some privacy. I follow him instinctively. Jace looks at them a moment before following us and leaning in close.
