Hullo there. Max is an extremely hard character to write for. I've been rereading the books to try to harness her wit and dauntlessness, but I'm struggling. Anywho on with the story...

"Max," he breathed. We just stared at each other. He began to go in for a pony hug when I hoofed him in the nose. He grunted.
"HOW. DARE. YOU." I yelled. Everyone turned to stare. Discord grinned, and Twilight looked like she wanted to intervene. Everyone else just looked really uncomfortable.
"What... I... Max..." Fang stammered.
"How dare you leave me alone at the School for TWO YEARS! I thought you had just abandoned me! I thought you left me, but you were here eating my favorite food the ENTIRE. FREAKING. TIME." I paused to take a breath. Fang looked me over, taking in my new form. I did the same to him. Black, all black. Head, shoulders, knees, and... hooves. Even Fang's eyes we black as night. His mane and tail were short and had a choppy, uneven cut. He was a pegasus, obviously.
"Are they all here?" I asked after a long pause. He looked at me, he seemed so much older.
"They're all here Max, and we've all missed you so much. We've been searching for you ever since we got here. It's just all so confusing. I'm just so glad I found you." His eyes sparkled genuinely, but his words lacked meaning. I breathed deeply, contemplating whether or not to trust him. Maybe there was a logical explanation for everything. Of course I am in another dimension where I am a cartoon-like pony because... logic.
"Look Fang, I don't know what's going on. It's only my first day here. But..." I paused. The old me would have run away, not out of fear but out of anger. But I had seen the way these ponies acted towards each other, and I had realized how much love my world was lacking. I couldn't hide how I really felt below this bubbling anger. I just couldn't. I sighed, giving up.
"Oh my gosh, Fang, I've missed you so much." I gave him the biggest hug pony me could muster. He hugged back with all his might. I didn't realize I was crying until we broke away.
Twilight walked up to us, obviously trying to hide how awkward she felt.
"How about this," she said, putting a hoof on my shoulder, "let's all get some chocolate chip cookies, and we're going to talk this out."
