One thing I've learned about life? It's never predictable. Each day brings new rain or new sunshine. No two days will ever be the same. It may feel that way, but it's not.

As my last class came to a closing, I stared blankly out the window. Outside was bleak. Everything looked desperately pitiful. It was the beginning of spring. The grass looked worn down and brown, the sky was a cool bluish gray, and a lifeless breeze floated through the air. It seemed like a typical friday in Washington. Little did I know a surprise awaited me just around the curve.

RING! RING! RING! "There's the bell," I said with a sigh. Standing up, I scooped up my backpack and headed into the dreadful populous hallway. As I walked towards my locker a sudden wave of excitement washed over me. The break has finally just begun. It's time to relax, have fun, and not think about this hell hole for the next two weeks. A small smile formed on my face as my mind played different scenarios for this break. "BOO!"

I jumped six feet into the air. "Oh my god. What the fuck Gracie?! You almost gave me a fucking heart attack."

"Sorry."

"Whatever. Let's just go before we miss the bus," I sighed as I slammed my locker shut.

Gracelynn Wyatt has been my best friend since we were in kindergarten. We practically grew up together. Ever since Vanessa taunted me on the playground and Gracie defended me we've been inseparable. I can't live without her.

After about twelve red lights, six stops, and a detour, we were finally in my neighborhood. I couldn't wait til I got home. My bed and tv were calling my name. The bus came to a halt and the doors opened like the gates to heaven. Gracie and I got off the bus and started toward my house.

"Hey, Park? Did you know your dad was home?" Gracie asked while pointing to my father''s black SUV.

"No." A frown appeared on my face. What's he doing here so early? "I'll call you later, ok?"

"Yeah ok. See ya Later! Don't forget to call me!"

I chuckled, "I won't!" I marched up the steps of my front porch and into the house. Where the hell is everyone? I questioned. I went up to my room and put my bag down then walked down to my father's office.I knocked lightly and waited for a response.

"Come in!" My mother yelled.

"Hey guys, what's up?"

"Hi sweetie, how was school?" My father asked standing from his position behind his desk.

"It was good. Why aren't you at work?" I questioned.

My dad is an undercover agent for the CIA. I know he has a pretty cool job, but it usually takes up most of his time. Hence my surprise at him standing in front of me right now. My dad is usually only home on birthdays, holidays, and funerals.

It's only mid-March so I know it's no one's birthday. St. Patrick's Day has already passed. Oh god, did someone die?

My brain was currently scanning the realm of family members that I have to see who was the closest to death. I hope it's not grandma Eden. With my eyes closed, I stood as still as possible waiting for the news of the now dead relative, but it never came. Instead when I opened them, I was confronted with a bunch of confused smiling faces.

"Uh, guys? Why are you smiling like creepy stalker kidnappers? It's kind of freaking me out" I stated, stepping backwards toward the door.

My mother was the first to laugh. "Parker we have exciting news."

"You're giving Leo and Cameron up for adoption?" I smiled happily.

Leo and Cameron are my younger brothers. Leo is thirteen and Cameron just turned ten. I wish nothing more, but to go back to being the only child. Don't get me wrong I love the little shitheads to death, but like i just said. They're little shitheads.

"Parker Elizabeth stop being mean."

"Yeah parker, stop being mean." Speak of the devils and they shall appear. Cameron and Leo come waltzing into dad's office like they own the place with an evil glint in their eyes. Bastards.

"Great now that the whole family is here, Your mother and I have some great news. Please take a seat" My father smiled and motioned for us to sit on the small couch. I don't know what this exciting news is but i just hope it doesn't involve me being locked up with my brothers. "I got news that I had some paid time off yesterday and since today was the last day before spring break, your mother and I thought it would be a grand idea to go on a vacation."

Welp. My spring break just went down the drain. A whole two weeks. With my family?Someone call 911. I think my parents are trying to kill me.
