Lydias pov / 2:16am
the constant tossing and turning from beside me had my eyes fluttering open. I expected sunlight to be pouring through the blinds, or any sort of light for that matter. but all I was able to use to make out a few things in the dark was the moonlight.
a weight was settled around my waist and I knew it couldn't have been any other than Stiles' arm. his hand laid across my stomach, just under my loose tank top that naturally rose while I slept.
all that could be heard was the fan a couple of feet away blowing cold air at us, and his uneven breathing. I knew he was dreaming about something, anything with the way his head moved from side to side every few seconds. but no noises came from his mouth that showed me he was having a nightmare, so I wasn't worried.
lightly grabbing the hand that laid on my bare skin, I lifted it off me and stood up out of his bed as quietly as possible. still asleep, Stiles gripped the pillow I use every night and pulled it into his chest. a smile crept onto my lips and I bent down to press them to his cheek for just a moment.
the floor underneath of my feet was freezing as I headed towards Stiles' dresser. I slipped on the velvet slippers that matched my pajama set and opened his bedroom door, attempting to be as quiet as possible.
me and Stiles were the only ones in the whole house since Sheriff Stilinski was working a night shift at the station, so I was only worried about waking him. successfully, I slipped out of his bedroom and started down the hallway.
it wasn't completely dark throughout the house, thanks to the full moon that was shining through the windows. when I entered the kitchen I decided on making a cup of hot tea, knowing it would help me get back to sleep.
setting the bottom burner to high, I grabbed a pot and filled it with water. I found a mug I've seen Stiles use a couple of times and a couple of tea bags.
Stiles' pov
my eyes shot open and I felt sweat dripping down the side of my face. it all felt too real, her eyes closing right before mine and her body going limp in my arms. I'd never had a nightmare that I remembered so vividly after waking up and that scared me.
only when my breathing became steady again I realized my arm wasn't wrapped around Lydia, but her pillow. I sat up quickly feeling around the bed for any sign of her and looking around my room for the shape of her body- still nothing.
the pounding of my heart picked up every second that another bad scenario entered my train of thought. pushing the covers off of my waist and running a hand over my face, I figured- hoped- that she was just using the bathroom.
she almost had to be, I noticed the bedroom door cracked slightly as apposed to shut and ran my fingers through my bed hair. I swung the door open and looked to the left at the bathroom, but the light was off.
now I didn't know what to think, as I jogged down the hallway and turned the corner into the living room. everything seemed normal, and I stood in the middle of the room for a couple of seconds seeing if anything was out of place.
through the silence I heard a hushed humming noise and my head snapped to look towards the kitchen. my feet carried me to the doorway and my eyes landed on Lydia, with her back facing me.
she was pouring steaming water into my most used mug with tea bag strings hanging off the side. my presence was unknown to her until I let out a deep breath I'd been holding in.
"jesus, Lyds do not scare me like that." my voice was just above a whisper and I approached her, wrapping my arms around her waist from behind.
opening the container, she added a spoonful of sugar to her tea and stirred, "I'm sorry Stiles, are you okay?"
nodding lightly, I pressed a kiss to her bare shoulder, "yeah, I just had a nightmare. when I woke up and you weren't there I got so scared."
"do you wanna tell me about it?" she asked quietly, turning her body to face mine and wrapping her arms around my neck.
shrugging, I leaned my forehead against hers, "I- uh, I lost you." the words were almost inaudible, but she was close enough to hear.
Lydia looked up at me through her eyelashes with those doe eyes and my nerves visibly seized. her tiny hands cupped my cheeks and she stood on her toes to press her lips to mine. it was passionate, slow and soft, leaving me breathless.
when she pulled away just so that my lips hovered hers, I was already yearning for the feeling of her lips again. my eyes remained closed and I could feel her breath fanning my face when she whispered, "you'll never lose me, Stiles."
instinctively I held her closer to me, "I really hope you're right."
"come on," she spoke, turning back around to grab her tea, "lets go back to bed."
one hand laced with mine and the other holding her mug she led me back to my room. I shut the door behind us, because she's unable to fall asleep with it opened at all.
slipping under the comforters first, I got comfortable as close to the center of the bed as I could. she sat the mug down on the bedside table and climbed in after me. pulling her body as close to mine as possible, I placed my head in the crook of her neck.
"I love you, baby." Lydia said softly, placing a kiss to the side of my head.
"I love you too, Lyds."
