your pov / friday
the noise of all the kids in the cafeteria wasn't too distracting from my reading. I had my nose in a book, like always, with my friends sitting around me. lunch was the most time I had to read all day, so I took advantage of it.
Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo never seemed upset with my lack of talkative-ness. they're my best friends and they know that if I wanted to be included I'd make it clear.
the biggest distraction was the foot under the table that kicked me every other minute. my eyes don't leave the page when he does it but a small smile plays on my lips and I roll my eyes.
i'm probably - definitely closest to Gordo. he was my first friend in elementary and always manages to make me laugh like no other. no one knows me better than him, and he's the first person I go to with anything. well, almost anything.
his foot lightly kicks my shin again and this time I decide to kick him back.
"ow!" Gordo exclaims, leaning down to rub the place I kicked. "y/n, that hurt." he whined across from me as I look up from my book for the first time.
Miranda and Lizzie pause their conversation looking confused. "you kicked me -- multiple times -- first, so you deserved it." I glare at him while he just sticks his tongue out at me like a child.
Gordo goes to kick me back but I move to the side too fast and he misses. "do you guys ever stop flirting?" Miranda pipes up beside me, our heads turn to her. "what? I was just saying what everyone was thinking." both of us look at her in shock and Lizzie stifles a laugh with her hand.
"wha- how do you even call him kicking me in the shins flirting?" I tried to act completely shocked, but on the inside I was freaking out. it started to show when I felt blood rushing to my cheeks.
there's no way he was flirting with me, right? yeah, no, that was not even close to flirting.
Miranda shrugs. "she has a point. if there's one thing Gordo doesn't know it's how to flirt." Lizzie says, looking like she's still trying to hold her laughter.
Gordo scoffs, directing my attention back to him. "I know how to flirt!" he claimed with an offended expression. seriously? that's what he's worried about when Lizzie and Miranda seem to think we flirt often? "watch me. y/n, do you like raisins? how do you feel about a date?" finishing it off, he wiggled his eyebrows at me suggestively.
"uh, actually I don't really like dates. (phax they're nasty) and all that really did was convince me that you look up cheesy pick up lines in your free time."
now Miranda and Lizzie were both laughing. the big clock on the far wall of the lunch room showed that we only had a minute till our next class. I put my bookmark in the crease of my page and slid the book into my backpack.
the two girls are giggling and making up random website names Gordo would use to find pick up lines. "oh, whatever. that line would've worked on any other girl in this room." I raise my eyebrows at him. "you're just complicated." he points his finger in my direction.
my jaw dropped. "me? complicated?" Gordo nodded nonchalantly and I look and Lizzie and Miranda. "am i complicated?" they just shrug and stay quiet. "how am I complicated? what does that even mean?" the bell rang a second later.
"that's the bell, I better get to class." he said quickly and stood up with his bag. "i'll see you ladies later." with that, he left.
I stared at the door he walked out of in disbelief. "did he just totally ignore my question?" we got up and gathered our stuff.
