The Walls

It was at least 9 p.m. by the time we hit back to the Homestead. We were both tired from things we would never speak of. Our perfection was the best, pand it sucks that it had to end. But as we were walking back to the Homestead the walls began shifting uncontrollably. Teresa's eyes went wide and she grabbed my hand as we ran up to where Newt was waiting for us, the expression on his face between calm and uncalm.

Newt yelled to us, "Thomas, Teresa! You need to hurry, we don't know what's going on!"

We ran even faster, stopping in front of him. "Can you tell us what caused it?" Teresa asked in-between short breaths.

"No, actually. All we know is that we were getting ready for a bonfire and the walls started to move, first slowly and undetectable, and now fast and loud." He looked towards where the woods lay haphazardly on the ground, the fire forgotten an unstarted. "But so many of us are scared." He looked back at Thomas and then at Terrsa. "You guys have got to know something!" Newt's eyes were wide and looked as though he could cry, although we knew he wouldn't.

I calmly looked over at Teresa, still gripping my hand, and her face had worry written all over it. "Well," I said, " if any Grievers come in, we'll have to do our best to disable them. It'll be hard, but I'm sure that we can do it."
Teresa looked at me, licking her eyes with mine.

"Thomas, are you sure we can do that? That's next to impossible. Wait no, it IS impossible!" She was having a panic attack so I pulled her to me and spoke to Newt.

"Get everyone ready to fight. Tell them we have to try and defend ourselves, and that we'll make it through." He stared at me a moment and then replied.

"Okay. Goodbye, Thomas." He ran towards everyone else to get them ready and that's when Teresa sobbed into my shoulder.
