Two hours until the moon hit it's peak and it was becoming harder to keep Ben away from the moon's light. Audrey couldn't handle Annelise anymore, it was as if she was becoming aware of the situation. Which Mal feared was true. Even if it wasn't it would be soon. But for now she focused on the present and Ben. Currently he was stay put playing a game with two of his classmates.
Watching him like a child? How over protective wouldn't you think? Mal thought to herself. But was being overprotective even a problem now? This was life or death after all!
Mal left from a table under the blue tent and walked to Ben. "Mind if I join?" Mal asked grabbing dice.
"'Course not!" Happy little Jane said. "Since I'm already on Carlos's team looks like your with Ben if that's alright,"
"It's fine with me." Ben answered before handing Mal some cards. "We're playing UNO, wanna draw the dice? See who goes first this round?"
Mal nodded and rolled the small, white dice landing a six. Jane then snatched the dice and rolled a four. "Looks like you two go first."
Ben and Mal looked between their eight cards discussing amongst themselves which to put down. The color was a yellow six and they didn't have many yellow, but a lot of red and so they put down a red six. Jane and Carlos had no trouble at all and put a red one down. After a few turns the color eventually ended up yellow again and the pair had already used their yellow. They now had to draw a card. Plus four.
"Whatcha playing?" Annelise asked appearing beside Ben.
"UNO. Ever played?" Carlos asked her.
"Me and Audrey used to be addicted to this game." She admitted with a fake smile Mal wanted to smack right off her. "
"Wanna join?" Ben asked, making Mal sick.
"No thanks, I just wanted to say hi to my boyfriend." Annelise said. She glanced at Mal before kissing Ben. That was it. Mal was officially going to throw up.
"I'll be back. Play without me."
Mal knew she should be staying with Ben but if she had to see more of Annelise's crap she'd throw up on him! It would give him a excuse to go home and change but she didn't want the embarrassment. So Mal went to a table under the same blue tent and sat down laying her head on the table.
A few moments later she heard footsteps and soon heard Ben say, "Ya know it takes two to play cards." His kind voice spoke, sitting beside her.
"Sorry about that. I've been feeling sick all night." Mal admitted.
Ben placed his hand on her four-head. "You don't feel warm, nervous about the new moon?"
  "More then you know,"
"Don't worry. No bad magic or demon spawns will show up, scouts promise."
Mal laughed. "You were in Boy Scouts?"
Embarrassed, Ben scratched the back of his head. "No! That's just what people do to promise things!"
"It's also what Boy Scouts do." Mal teased.
"How about instead of teasing me, I'll take you to get a drink. That way you don't pass out on us." Ben smiled making Mal feel weak at her knees.
Mal was about to agree but remembered the moon. "Actually I'll get us drinks! Don't want a angry girlfriend right?" She asked standing.
"She's not my girlfriend." Ben corrected her.
"She's not?" Mal asked sitting back in her seat.
"No, Annelise is a amazing friend, yes but not my girlfriend. If anything I'd want you my girlfriend but it's obvious we don't want the same things."
Mal sighed with a wry smile looking down. "No we do, believe me," she looked back up at him and for a moment the two were both silent.
Mal looked around and Annelise was far away, avoiding the lake for some reason. But Mal didn't care. She took the chance and kissed him.
