A Message from Bill

As our 5th Anniversary celebrations continue, I want to thank all of the Pubbers that have submitted poems to out 5th Anniversary collection. They have been a wonderful cornucopia of imagination, emotion and inspiration.

For the next week I am challenging all of our Pubbers to introduce your friends to the Pub. Send a message to your friends and inform them of our special anniversary and at the same time, ask them to drop by and if they like what they see, to submit a poem. For this special challenge we will publish their first time poem in our Anniversary collection as a lasting legacy of their first visit to the Poets Pub.

The Poets Pub has always been a safe and inspirational place for all Poets and our doors are always open to new members.

So invite them along so they can breathe in the atmosphere, read some amazing poems, meet new friends and of course be served a free beverage of choice.

Thank you one and all for making our 5th Anniversary a success and as we carry on the celebrations into June, here's to many more years of the Poets Pub.

Human Family
By Maya Angelou

I note the obvious differences
in the human family.
Some of us are serious,
some thrive on comedy.

Some declare their lives are lived
as true profundity,
and others claim they really live
the real reality.

The variety of our skin tones
can confuse, bemuse, delight,
brown and pink and beige and purple,
tan and blue and white.

I've sailed upon the seven seas
and stopped in every land,
I've seen the wonders of the world
not yet one common man.

I know ten thousand women
called Jane and Mary Jane,
but I've not seen any two
who really were the same.

Mirror twins are different
although their features jibe,
and lovers think quite different thoughts
while lying side by side.

We love and lose in China,
we weep on England's moors,
and laugh and moan in Guinea,
and thrive on Spanish shores.
