AN:- Hang in there, loveys; very important things coming up!
That afternoon, after the boys had a few hours of dance practice under their belts (and a lot of sweat to show for it), they gathered together to eat though it was outside the norm for them.
"After hours of ransacking the internet, I think I might have found some explanation for the tattoos." The leader's announcement was followed by a tired sigh; he was the only one out of seven to have suffered through hectic dance practice with almost no sleep.
"But hyung, you promised me you'd go to sleep if I did yesterday!" Jungkook complained at the realization that he had been tricked by Namjoon into leaving his game mission incomplete and go to sleep the day before.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. I was just curious; you know how I get. Can I tell everyone what I found out now?" Jungkook only accepted the other's apology when Namjoon bent to leave a soft kiss on his forehead, but motioned for the latter to continue eventually.
Upon being given permission by the maknae, the leader went on to retell some old folktale he had found that referred to tattoos similar to theirs as 'soulmarks', alluding to the concept of soulmates. Just the idea seemed laughable, of course, but the boys had gone through such an extraordinary, unbelievable experience when they got their tattoos that they were willing to believe even the most fantastical sounding stories if they gave an explanation for the origin of their 'magic' tattoos.
"This is ... to be honest, I don't even have the time to sleep, let alone wonder about magic tattoos and soulmates." Yoongi, ever the straightforward one, shook his head as he gave his two cents about the matter.
"Aren't we too calm about this, though? I know being busy is a big part of it, but this is insane. Why aren't we more worried about these tattoos?" Jimin, who had kept his head down until then to recuperate fully from extensive dance practice, questioned.
"That ... is true as well. I guess we can add that to the foot long list of things we don't know." Jin deadpanned, clearly frustrated, resulting in Jimin's infamous pout showing.
"Hey, we'll figure it out like we always do: together." Taehyung nodded meaningfully at his hyung as he said, making Jin smile (albeit half heartedly) in reply and mutter a small 'sorry' to the pouty Jimin for snapping at him.
Before any of the others could say anything though, the bell of the boys' dorm rung, signifying the arrival of their food. The scent and presence of delicious beef distracted them from their discussion, but one thing was clear. All of the boys were learning to deal with their new reality in a different way, and almost none of them had the time to ponder fully over the meaning of the eighth initial on the wrists.
Over the next few days though, in the dark of night just before sleep overtook them, maybe the thought of the tattoo being a soulmark crossed the boys' minds. And maybe when it did, they found themselves smiling at the names of their lovers etched into their skin; comforting and clear and always there.
And maybe, sometimes they thought of the eighth name as well, wondering what it meant and who it signified. But these thoughts would soon be erased as sleep took over them and the next day would bring thousands of seconds of being too busy to be able to think properly.
Such was the life of an idol.

Taehyung jolted awake due to a forgotten dream, his limited view of the window showing how early in the morning it still was. The boy's attention eventually wandered towards the bodies comfortingly wrapped around him, the huge custom bed accommodating seven clingy boys just perfectly so.
