In the wake of Astra's death, Kara visits with Alex, trying to reassure her that there are no hard feelings between the two of them despite Alex killing her aunt.
Alex had dreaded seeing Kara. In fact, she dreaded even having to show her face anywhere near her or J'onn. So instead of showing up to work the next day, she called in sick and wallowed in her misery at home. In fact, she didn't even sleep, eat, or call anyone. She checked her phone and realized she had 15 missed calls. Five of them were from her mother Eliza, another five were from J'onn, and another five were from Kara. "I can't show my face to any of them." Alex said as she cried. She then proceeded to delete them all. Suddenly, Alex heard a knock on the door. Alex ignored it, thinking her mind was playing tricks with her. When the knocking continued, Alex finally responded. "Who is it?" "Alex, it's me. Please let me in." The voice said. "It was Kara. Of course it is!" Alex thought to herself. "Go away Kara." Alex cried. "Please Alex, don't shut me out." Kara said. "I don't want to see you." Alex said crying. "As much as it pains me to say that." "Why not?" Kara asked with worry in her voice. "Because you don't want to see me; I'm a killer Kara; I killed your Aunt. That's something I know you'll never forgive me for." Alex said, still crying. "That's not true." Kara replied softly. "Yes it is. You can't say you're not angry, upset, or even ashamed of being my sister right now." Alex cried. Kara sighed heavily. "You're right, I'm sad, a bit lost, and upset that my aunt is dead. But I know, deep in my heart and mind, that you did what you had to do; You made the only choice you could have, given the situation and the circumstances. I do admit that I wish there was another way. I would love to have her back, but I probably would have done the same thing in your situation if the roles were reversed." She explained.
"Look Alex, you're my sister and I love you, no matter what; And despite what you might think, I forgive you, and I will always, always, always love you." Kara said, beginning to cry herself. "Alex, please. Please don't shut me out. Please talk to me." Kara said, this time crying with tears in her eyes. "I need my sister. I miss my aunt, but I miss my sister more." Kara was on the verge of breaking down herself. Alex finally got the courage to open the door. The Danvers Sisters looked at each other with tears in their eyes. "How can you forgive me for what I've done, when I can't even forgive myself?" Alex said crying. "Because I know that we need each other now, more than ever." Kara said crying back.
Alex began to tremble, then wrapped Kara in an emotional embrace. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." She cried. "It's OK, I forgive you." Kara replied softly. "I don't know if I'll ever forgive myself." Alex cried. "You have to, not just for your sake, but for ours." Kara said, holding her tightly, but not too tight. Alex then pulled from their embrace to look her sister straight in the eye. "Do you hate me for what I've done?" Alex said, ready to cry again. "No. I love you Alex. I love you whatever you are; You are my sister, and I will always love you." Kara said. "I love you too Kara." Alex replied. With that the Danvers Sisters lovingly embraced each other once more.
This is a very poignant and emotional sequence. I hope I didn't get too over the top with this one. Anyways, in the next chapter, it's a bit of a role reversal.
