As I’m lying in the operating room, my anesthesiologist Dr Brown comes through to me and asks me a couple of question like ‘do you smoke’ etc. As soon as she’s done the doctors put me under anesthesia.
Next thing I know I am waking up to see my brother on the other side of the room. As soon as my brother notices I’m awake he runs to my side taking my hand in his and giving it a reassuring squeeze and giving me a wide smile, and then he lets go of my hand telling me he is going to get the doctor. Seconds later Evan walks in with the doctor right behind him. She starts by asking me how I am and honestly, I answer “I am feeling great”, with a look of satisfaction she starts checking my vitals and gives me the all clear. In my mind I am thinking just a couple of days here and I will be free like a bird.
Next thing I see is Alissa waking through my door with a crying Isaac in her arms, as soon as Isaac spots me he screams for Alissa to give him to me, and she obeys, carefully he lays with me on the hospital bed twirling strands of my hair with his fingers.
It’s been 4 cancer free days in the hospital, and I can finally sign the discharge paper.
As my brother pulls into my driveway, I see a male figure standing outside my front door. Not giving much thought to it I walk towards the front door.
