Corbyn followed Daniel to the stairs that led into their massive patio. He knocked on the black wooden door, minutes later, a woman that looked like she was in her early forties answered the door. Her smile looked very serene, and she had a healthy glow to her face. She wore a simple white shirt and leggings. Her hair was in a tight bun, she wore simple flip-flops."Hello sweetie, and who is this?" The woman looked at Corbyn with kind eyes.
"He's just a... friend, mom" Daniel answered, a red tint on his cheeks
"Is he blushing? Why is he blushing?" Corbyn wondered.
The woman had a knowing smile on her lips, and there was a certain glow in her eyes.
"Good afternoon Mrs. Seavey, my name's Corbyn and I'm just here to drop off Daniel. I'll be on my way" Corbyn said to which Daniel's mom shook her head.
"Oh dear, come inside. At least tay for a snack, I'll have our chef cook something up" She told him.
"Oh no, you don't really need to-"
"Non-sense, come inside." She opened the door wider for them.
Daniel stepped inside and Corbyn reluctantly followed.
Hallways stretched left and right, ahead of them stood a set of stairs that led to the second floor. A huge chandelier was hung about seven feet above their heads. Between the stairs were archways that led into what seemed like the backyard. The floor was made of white marble and some of its areas were covered by gray carpets. The walls were painted pearl white and had numerous frames that contained pictures, paintings, and certificates. More archways separated the huge space and led into other rooms. The design of the place was a mix of modern and classical architecture, giving you a mix of a palace with a very modern feel.
"Daniel, make Corbyn feel at home, maybe give him a tour. I'll make Theresa call you when snacks are ready"
"Sure mom"
"Thank you, Mrs. Seavey" Corbyn said.
"Oh quit it, call me Keri" Keri smiled at him and walked away from them, disappearing around one of the corners.
Daniel looked at Corbyn, a strange look on his face.
"What?" Corbyn asked.
"Nothing," Daniel started walking away. "Follow me"
~~~~~~~
Daniel chose to lead him outside.
Wooden tables and chairs stood on a wide stone platform, beyond that was a field the size of a football stadium covered with grass and countless variations of flowers in a variety of colors. Once again, the trees and the tall concrete wall separated them from the rest of the world
"It was my wish for my 6th birthday" Daniel spoke
"What?" Corbyn looked at him confused
"The flowers" Daniel said "I had thought about it once while playing on the field. I had to wait for my mother to come back from her week-long trip and asked her if we could have the gardeners plant flowers instead of just plain grass"
"What about your father? Why not just ask him?" Corbyn asked
Daniel smiled bitterly, "When it comes to my father, my mother knew how to convince him easily. Sadly, my siblings and I couldn't do the same"
Silence settled over them as Corbyn looked beyond the field. A stone path cut across the field and led into another archway that was covered by overgrown leaves.
