Life of a youngin, baby, come get in my world.
~Rod Wave
Sunday, September 10th
Sammy's preseason game was tonight and the Sinclair's were getting ready for the game. Sammy was sending a private jet so the 3 hour trip would be cut down by over half the time. Keyarii was putting the last touches on her ensemble. She had a light a face of makeup.
The hornets were playing the Celtics and in all honesty Keyarii cared for neither team. She supported her brother and him only, the Warriors had her overall support.
After applying her jewelry she was finally ready. She walked downstairs and spotted Naomi checking herself out in the mirror.
"Oohhh snap momma look at you lookin like you lookin."
"Oh stop it."
"But Ma what type of earrings are those?"
"Sammy bought them and I don't want him to think I don't wear these hideous things. But if I may ask where's the rest of your outfit and sneakers with a dress child?"
"Leave my outfit alone you worry about the earrings." Naomi waved her daughter off.
"Go get your brother and tell him to come on." Keyarii nodded and headed up the stairs to her brother's room.
"Nassir it's time to go," she said as she knocked on the door. He opened the door and looked at her with snare as he took in her outfit.
"Bye go change."
"No," she said as she turned and walked back downstairs. Nassir and Taylor followed suit. Naomi and Sammy didn't want Taylor to go at all, Keyarii didn't care as long as she didn't get outta body. Sammy allowed her to come she just wouldn't be getting all the perks. Once they all made it to the front door, they left in Naomi's Infiniti QX80, Nassir and Taylor rode in the back while Key rode in the front.
Keyarii busied herself with texting Ja and Naomi sang James Brown and Aretha Franklin the entire ride.
To,Key🥵💍: so Samir Sinclair is your brother? &Keion Sinclair y'all daddy?
To,Ja🏀: yep.

To,Ja🏀: hmm okay.
The Sinclair's and Taylor arrived to the private airway where the jet was waiting for them. They were greeted and checked before piling onto the plane. It would be an hour flight. Once aboard they found their seats and buckled in, but Keyarii,of course, had to get her a few snacks.
After the flight they made their way to the arena. They were checked and then guided to their seats. Nas and Key always preferred court side will Naomi would be sitting with the basketball wives, they all were familiar with her. Taylor would be a row behind Nassir and Key. Samir was not gonna put her court side and he didn't even like her.
The arena was packed as usual and the grand thing about court side seats, if you were gonna be packed together at least it would be next to a celebrity.
Everybody had their concessions and they watched the players warm up. Key looked around until she saw her brother.
"Look Nassy(Nah-si/zi), there he is", Key pointed at Samir. He was currently warming up his hands so he'd be able to handle the ball without catching cramps in his hand.
"Don't call me that shit in public."
"You still mad?"
"Yes because if I would've called you a bitch you would've bit my head off."
"I didn't mean it though," she stuck out her lips and widened her beautiful big brown eyes, staring at Nassir. He turned away from her coaching to himself in his head, Don't fall for it. Don't fall for it. She called you a bitch don't fall for her face.
"Nassy boo."
"Gahdamn it Keyarii every single time," he finally gave in. He couldn't resist her puppy dog face which had remained the same since she was two.
She laughed and blew a raspberry on his cheek and then hugged him. "Childish little girl."
"WASSUP MY FAVORITE SIBLINGS!" Samir yelled as he walked over.
"You're a professional athlete don't be acting all loud and ghetto", Taylor remarked. Samir cut his eyes at her before brushing her comment off.
"Anyways how are my favorite siblings?"
"We're your only siblings Sammy."
"And I talked to you the other day."
"A lot can change over a few days Keyarii."
"I know this Samir."
"Government name was not needed."
"Shouldn't you be getting ready some more?" Nassir asked.
"Shouldn't you be doin background checks on Taylor and her people?"
"What?!" Taylor and Nassir said simultaneously.
"Don't look surprised, now favorite sister—."
"Only sister."
"You don't have to remind me lil ugly."
"You ugly too then I look just like my big brother", she said shrugging her shoulders.
"Who told you that lie?"
"Who told you I don't?"
"My mirror"
"Our mother."
"Mhmm whatever. So hopefully if we can rap this damn game up I'll be able to take you lovely people out to eat, not you Taylor."
"Why you always bashing my girl?"
"Wouldn't have to if she ain't give me the heebie jeebies." Keyarii laughed and Nassir looked over at her with a mug on his face.
"Sammy bear?" An instantly blush came to his face when Key called him the nickname.
"Yes boo?"
"Nothing," she cheesed. "Handshake?"
"Of course." Sammy and Key did their signature handshake they made up when she was 2. Of course it had to be perfected over the years. He walked back over to the team as they headed back to the locker room.
Soon the introductions were being made and Sammy was second to last.
"Starting at forward, 6'11", from University of Georgia, SAMIR SIIIINNNNNCLAIRRRR!!!"
Keyarii and Nassir stood up cheering for their brother, as well did Naomi. Naomi was the type to cheer and keep it pushing once the moment was over. Keyarii and Nassir, on the other hand, always had to do the most. Samir was like Naomi, he cheers and then moves on.
The national anthem was sung by Queen Naija, the visiting team was announced, and then tip off began.
Ja
Ja was in his room locked away from the world. He was going over the previous season's film. He took note of almost everything, and compared it to what the scorebook said.
A knock sounded at his door, he withdrew his attention from the film on the computer screen. Ja left his chair and walked over to his door, unlocking it. There stood Hayden.
"Wassgood bruh."
"Me and Simone are about to leave, want me to bring you something back?"
"Nah man but have fun witcha girl, just not too much fun," Ja laughed.
"Whatever," Hayden smiled and walked off. Ja closed his door back and returned to his chair. Since his focus had been interrupted he decided to take a break. Instead he googled 'Keion Sinclair', Keyarii's father.
The first headline to pop up was 'Samir Sinclair 2nd year NBA vs Father, Keion Sinclair, 2nd year NBA'.
The next was an interview with Samir about his father.
Jasiah clicked on it and the video loaded before it popped up.
"Today we are here with Samir Sinclair and son of 3x NBA champion and 5x MVP, Keion Sinclair. First off I just want to say a big congratulations to you on being drafted into the league," the interviewer turned to Samir.
"Thank you very much."
"I wanna talk about the suit you wore to the draft and I know you got a lot of questions but one question they didn't ask, What was your thought process going into the making of the suit?"
"Um I was just thinking I wanted something to honor my father and to have something that really felt close to home, and to have him with me. And, actually it was my sister's idea to have the suit made with the pictures in them. She help me design it by the way."
"Wow so all the Sinclair kids are talented in their own right, yes?"
"Fa'sho without a doubt."
"Excellent, now that you are in the NBA what do you plan or hope to do?"
"I hope to be a big contributor to the overall effort and it would be too arrogant of me to come in as rookie and wanna guarantee a championship."
"Humble beginnings. How do you think your transition from college to the league is going to be?"
"Smooth, I'm not worried about anything."
"Well alright then, I have a videoclip from your dad I believe it's after his 3rd time being MVP. And I'm not sure if you have seen it or not."
"I don't think I have to be honest with you," Samir chuckled.
The video started it and it was Keion being asked questions after the NBA player awards.
"So Keion congratulations on the birth of your newest edition Keyarii."
"Thank you it's a blessing."
"How do you feel to have a daughter?"
"Great,I wanted a daughter and that's what I got, couldn't be happier."
"How are your two boys taking it? Is there any jealousy?"
"From Nassir, he's not liking the thought of not being the baby anymore, and Sammy is head over heels for his sister. I can't even hold my own child, it's a mess."
"Aww there is no other love like a big brother's love. Speaking of your two boys, do you have hopes of them playing in the NBA?"
"Yes. Sammy's already picked up a ball and Nassir has too, so now it's my job to get them there. I plan to give them all the resources I didn't have when I was younger, just my job as a player and as a parent."
"That's amazing. And I know it's early but would you like for your daughter to be interested in basketball?"
"If she will be that's fine and if she doesn't that's fine too. Whatever she puts her mind to, I want her to do it."
"Well congratulations once again on the new baby and 3x MVP. Thank you so much for your time."
"No problem," Keion walked off.
The video panned back to Sammy and the interviewer. "What are your thought after seeing that video?"
"He was right, he gave me and Nassir some of the best trainers. My dad was really big on us having the best in the game but still knowing the importance of hard work. And, Nassir was most definitely jealous of our baby sister. I also know my father would be proud to know that Keyarii is interested in sports in her own way. She might be the one asking me questions next."
"We will be on the lookout for her then. You're the big brother to them both, have you felt pressure to be their role models and be successful?"
"Most def, I've always had the pressure to be in the NBA and be like my dad, you know I've always had the pressure to be a worthy enough role model to look up to. Our dad passed away when I was 15 going on 16 and I had to be the man of the house. So my dad's passing added fuel to the fire really."
"I'm sure both of your parents are very proud of you. Thank you for sitting down with me today."
"It's no problem." The interview concluded and Ja soaked it all in. No doubt he was being nosy. But other than his father, Keion Sinclair, could've been considered one of his role models from the older generation of players.
And to know the man he considered one of the greatest of all time, created the young woman he is getting to know absolutely blew his mind. He didn't know how just yet but Key was something special.
