Saving my mate

I watched as the disgusting rouge dangled my mate over the edge of a cliff above the ocean. The rouge chuckled, showing his yellow teeth.

"Too bad your gonna lose your mate so soon" he said. I looked at my mate, his hands tied behind his back and gaged with his feet chained to a heavy steel ball.

"Go ahead" I said "drop him." His family gasped in horror while hurt flashed through Caden's (my mate) eyes.

"As you wish" said the rouge smirking. I watched as he was dropped into the deep blue ocean.

"Get the rouge" I said to his family while running forward and jumping in after him. I hit the water and 10 seconds later my turquoise tail appeared. I swam as fast as I could to the bottom where Caden was trying to break free. I went down to him and untied him including the chains. I knew he would most likely be dead when we get to the surface.

"Caden" I said cupping his face in my hands, "the only way you'll live is if I kiss you." He nodded and held on to my waist. I leaned in and my lips touched his. I have to admit it was just... amazing. I pulled away and looked into his gorgeous blue eyes.

"You can breath now" I said giggling. His mouth formed the shape of an 'O'. He breathed in and smiled at me.

"How is this possible?" He asked.

"A mermaids kiss can help anyone breath under water," I answered "and plus anything is possible." I looked down.

"Hold on" I told him.

"Don't have to ask me twice" he said smirking at me. I rolled my eyes and swam through an under water tunnel.

"Don't we need to swim up?" asked Caden.

"We won't be able to climb the cliff and it's easier this way," I answered.

"Ok" was his reply. I kept swimming until we came to open water. I swam up to the surface right next to the edge of a lake. Caden got out of the water leaving me watching his retreating back.

"Can you help me out please?" I asked him. He turned around and chuckled but came back in and carried me bridle style to land. He laid me gently down on the soft green grass.

"How long till you get your legs back?" Asked Caden looking at my tail in awe. I held my hand above my tail and clenched it into a fist. Steam came off my tail that soon disappeared and was replaced by my legs.

"Not very long" I giggled looking at him.
