Hide and seek

Hello my name is Jane and I am 18 years old. Currently I am babysitting for my parents and playing hide and seek with my 3 younger siblings. There is Annabel who is 6 Max who is 4 and the youngest Lia who is 3.

"49...50" I said removing my head from against the wall. "Ready or not here I come."

The first place I check is upstairs where I find Max hiding in our mums closet. I then check the basement because that is the 2nd most likely place they will hide. Down there I find Annabel amongst the boxes of old toys and other stuff. With the other 2 following me I head back up stairs and start looking in places like the living room etc. As I am looking around, I hear a frightened squeal. The noise is coming from the laundry room. I run in to find Lia locked inside the tumble dryer. Gladly it wasn't turned on. I rush over to the machine and open the door. Lia is curled into a ball crying her eyes out. I gently lift her out and go to the living room. I sit down on the sofa and put Lia on my lap.

"What were you doing in there Lia?" I ask rocking her back and forth.

"I...I w..was hidin fom ou" she says into my chest. Lia can't speak properly yet so her words don't sound correct but I have learnt to understand her.

" Hey it's okay sweetheart I've got you" I whisper into her ear. We sat there for another 30 minutes before they all fall asleep around me. One by one I tuck them all into bed and go back downstairs just as my parents arrive home. I decided not to tell them about the tumble dryer incident tonight. Maybe another night.
