Slight angst
Silence filled the air in the open bathroom stall.
"Jeremy, I love you." Breathed Micheal.
"I know Micha, you literally told me just five minutes ago." Smirked Jeremy, carefully peeking the main door of the bathroom, to make sure that there were no "zombies" around anymore.
"I just want that to be my last words, and after what happened around 15 minutes ago, could be any moment, so I'm just gonna repeat that very often from now on." Chattered the smaller one remembering unintentionally the surreal moment that they had some moment ago. It was surreal how in the middle of the class the air started filling with a blue steam and the people started to go crazy after smelling it.
"Thank to the gods that neither Jeremy or me got affected with that. Also thank to the Gods that any of the students that started acting whacked was able to catch us and we were able to hide in this bathroom. Though the floor is HELLA gross." Thought Micheal to his insides, but soon his internal monologues got cut by the taller freckled in front of his that grabbed Micheal by the shoulders.
"Hey, we are not gonna die. This is an effed-up situation, but still a two player game, remember? And Micheal Mell and Jeremy Heere would never not gonna be a team. This time for real." He assured looking deep into Micheal's eyes. "There's no sign of zombies around, we should go now that we have the chance."
"Okay..." The two boys started walking at each other's sides in small steps, trying to don't attract any attention. Jeremy grabbed the shorter boy hand when he saw he was slowing his speed. Micheal was visually shaken while Jeremy was oddly calmed, like if he wanted to secure that the two would get out of the building as soon as possible.
"Hey, Jer..." Micheal chuckled nervously making the brunette turn around. "So, remember when we did this dumb, as a game, bet where I said that I would be chiller if we went through some sorta zombie apocalypse? Well, luckily I don't have 15 buck now, I would lose them." He rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand.
"You can give them to me when we reach home, Micha." Smiled Jeremy, stoping track on a corner.
Suddenly from that corner a a armed shadow jumped to the light.
Fortunately that shadow belonged to a well know still human being.
"For all the Peggy's in the world! Jeremy, Micheal, you're both still alive!" Shouted the little Christine Canigula lowering the gun and going to hug them both with tears tears streaming down her cheeks. "I can't believe it, I'm so happy!"
"So am I, Christine, but where did the gun came from?" Jeremy hugged back her.
"Oh, the people who isn't infected is making a shelter/escape rute in the cafeteria and inside there's this creepy guy in a trench coat and his nice girlfriend who are handing out weapons for the ones who are trying to find survivors like moi. Here, you can take this one, I also have a small knife." She gave the gun to Jeremy.
"But, we don't want to kill anyone! They're still students..." Interjected Micheal.
"No they're not. They fake it." Rage and regret filled Christine's voice thawing that took aback both boys as they never listened to her like that. So angry. So focused in what she wanted. So sad deep down. "Rich attacked Jake and Brooke when no one else was looking. I will never forget how they turned into feelingless beings. How ALL of them ended up turning into that and tried to convince me to do the same." She took a few breaths to recover while Micheal rubbed her back in little circles in an attempt to calm her. After a few seconds she was able to keep going.
"Yes, just shoot if it's really necessary, sure, but don't think, for a single second that they are still human cuz they're just controlled body's. Like pitiful puppets." Christine sighted and smiled in an even sadder manner. "Uh, you two should go to the cafeteria, there's an emergency door where you can get out securely from the school. I will also go once I've checked all the classes."
Christine left Jeremy and Micheal alone after her speech. They started heading to the cafeteria and after the ones that where in charge made sure that they were not infected they got out through the small red door for emergencies situated on the back of the cafeteria, leaving behind the huge building that now seemed one set from a apocalypse movie, but once upon not so many time, they all called Middleborough.
Micheal walked closer to Jeremy in the open field, each time getting farther of the building. He grabbed Jeremys hand as the silent tears began sliding down his face.
"Christine... she said they all turned into... what if everyone we knew and loved have turned into-into that? Really, thank gods we still have each other, I dunno what I'd do without you."
"Am I a good actor, Micheal?" Questioned instead Jeremy.
Micheal hesitated not knowing how answer that strange sudden question. "Uh, well, I've seen every play you've been in and your pretty great. Where did that question came from? You aren't thinking about following your actor career in the middle of an apocalypse, right? I mean I'll support you, but I don't think now it's the ideal moment, heh." He tried to joke but the boy in front of his kept a straight face all the time.
"Really flattering Micheal, but I'm not talking about Jeremy. I'm talking about me. I will tell you my name, but it's an acronym that you already know." 'Jeremy's' eyes started glowing blue as he took the gun that Christine gave him and aimed for Micheal's head. He looked to his right and his left before opening his mouth again:
"We're far enough from the school and the city, no one will hear the shot." He took off the gun safety of the gun. More tears streamed down Micheals cheeks. He was in denial, that could not be real, not HIS Jeremy. Not his player two. He begged silently to the sky but no one seemed able to hear his prayers.
"You were actually right about the bet Jeremy would have been crying like a baby the whole time. Begging you to protect him." 'Jeremy smiled in a creepy and twisted way "Do you know what filled his final thoughts? You. 'Please let Micha survive' Yeah, that's exactly what he thought. Isn't it adorable?"
The entity that had Jeremy's assemble lowered the gun and cupped his own cheeks keeping a deep tone in his voice pronouncing the last word. He let out a dry chuckle. Than he returned to the straight look in his face.
"And, yeah you were lucky with that. Were. Not anymore." He aimed Micheal's forehead again. "Any last words?" Smirked 'Jeremy' already pulling slightly the trigger.
"Jeremy, I love you." Breathed Micheal.
Silence filled the open field.
