Christine POV (yes, I said Christine)
Brooke, Chloe, Jenna, Rich, Jake and me, (or, as we call ourselves the SQUIP squad) were at the driveway of Jeremy's house to give him the biggest birthday surprise of his whole life.
We have organized the biggest pool party to make him have the most awesome and unforgettable day of his whole life.
Or at least that was our goal. That, once Jeremy gets old and wrinkled up and sits in his sofa remembering the best moments of his long life, this day would cross his mind and will make him smile. Also, probably, Micheal, who would be at that moment his husband for more that twelve years, will lean his head on Jeremy's shoulder. They will hold hands reminding the life that they have been living together since they were just kids, until one of them will finally expire their final breath. Wow, that was sad. Also romantic, but mostly sad. Now I'm sad. Who would probably die first, Michael or Jeremy? Why I am evan thinking about that? Wait, this was not what I was thinking about. In what was I thinking in a very first moment?
"Chris? You were zoning out. C'mon get out of the car. We're here." Jenna bumped gently my shoulder to make me get out of my trance. I noticed that her lips were slightly turned upwards, but her eyes showed a bit of concern. I, as well, noticed that everyone but we two were already outside the car.
"Oh, right, sorry, I haven't noticed" I apologized grabbing a bag with the presents for Jeremy I opened the door of the white car that Jake owned (or it would be better to say, the car that Jake's parents owned but they left behind after they ran for launder money and now The squad used) and got out of the car while Jenna did the same.
Before we came inside Jeremy's house, with the copy of the keys that Rich stole in their last sleepover, Brooke tried to call Micheal for what would be the eleventh time.
"It's useless, he doesn't answer. But, we can pass in front of his house and pick him up before going to the party!" Proposed Brooke while she hung up the phone and returned it to her back pocket.
"Fair enough, 'cause I'm pretty sure Jer won't go anywhere without his riend" I giggled remembering how we set up Micheal and Jeremy in a very successful way.
The rest of the group agreed and Rich took the keys of his pocket opening the door, trying to be as quiet as possible to don't ruin the surprise.
The first room when we stepped inside Jeremys house was a wide hall with a couch, a TV and a floor lamp in a corner. The hall was connected with what was presumably a tiny bathroom with its respectable door closed and small kitchen and the back door. The only thing separating the hall and the kitchen were wooden stairs that leaded upstairs to the bedrooms of the house. On the right side of the stairs there was a marble big table with two chairs. On the top of the table there was a note that said: "Jeremy, I had to leave early for a job interview, but don't worry, there's plenty cereal boxes, just open one like I normally do." It was signed as "dad". That meant that we didn't have to worry for waking up Jeremy's dad.
I haven't been in this house in months, but everything it's the same, the white curtains on the windows, the plastic plant besides the lamp, Jeremy's black cat sleeping on the couch besides Micheal red hoodie... Wait.
I was gonna point out the fact that Micheal's hoodie was there when I was cut by a scream.
"Oh my God, was that Jer screaming? Could he be hurt?" I was gonna run upstairs when Chloe grab me by the arm.
"Christine, darling, I think that wasn't a scre..."
"Michael-" Cut abruptly Jeremy's voice in a really high-pitched way.
"Are they...? Y'know?" Wondered Brooke trying to hide the smile in her lips.
"Seems so" Exclaimed Jenna perplexed.
"Ha, you owe me fifteen bucks, Jake" Teased Rich, leading his hand towards Jake with his palm upwards.
"How about ruin them the party?" Asked Jake slightly pissed for loosing the bet, giving ten bucks to Rich. Rich looked at him straight in the eyes (which was difficult to him without breaking his neck) mouthing "We dealt fifteen." with what Jake responded with a "Sorry bro, I'm broke right now."
"Jake, what the hell, you're the rich one in this relationship, you can't be broke now."
"Well, if I someone did not burned m-"
"Okay guys enough, let's just go upstairs and ruin our friends fun." Jenna cutter the pair off and pulled out her phone and we all headed to Jeremy's room where now we could clearly hear Micheal's voice also through the door.
"Are you prepared?"
"Yeah, of course, I'm waiting yo- oh fuck! Micheal!"
"Oops, I'm sorry."
I'm pretty sure that I wasn't prepared for what i was gonna face. We reached Jeremy's door and Chloe wishpered:
"Three, two, one..." She mimicked the numbers with her left hand while her right one perched the handle. "Hi everybody! DO WE INTER- wait, what?" She abruptly opened the door and we all picked inside. For most of the group disappointment and confort for me, we find out Micheal and Jeremy fully clothed, sitting on the edge of Jeremy's bed, facing the console and with their controllers in their hands. The screen was filled by big 'goo resemble' letters that spelled 'you lose'.
"Oh, hey guys, what are you doing here?" Micheal casually greeted us, waving a bit.
"Uhh... we prepared a party for you, Jeremy, you know, as it's your birthday." Blurted Jake, with a steady gaze lost in his thoughts of dissatisfaction.
"Oh, than-" Started thanking Jeremy, but being cut by a confused Rich.
"So, I don't get it, you guys are just playing video games?"
"Do we have any life apart that?" Joked Jeremy fixing his blue cardigan. "By the way Micheal, I'm still pissed that we lost because of you"
"Well, you shot when I was out of ammo, what I was supposed to do?!" Explained Micheal lively moving his hands and his turned off controller. Wait...
"Guys, we're gonna go downstairs waiting for you guys. Come down in ten minutes or whatever..." Muttered Brooke already heading to the hall.
Everyone exited the room exclaiming thing like "I can't believe it was a video game", "There goes my viral video" or "They let me down, now I lost the bet..." I was also gonna go with them, but first I had to tell Jeremy something.
"With this, Jeremy, I can be sure I was a good improvisation teacher." The boys looked at me concerned. "Just next time, remember to turn on your controllers." I smiled and they checked the switched off light of the controller. Micheal started laughing saying "We almost make it" and Jeremy grew the controller and hid his face in between his hands in shame.
"Fuuuck." He whined, being slightly muted by his own hands.
"You think anyone notice?" Wondered Micheal, with a smile that showed that he wasn't slightly embarrassed by this situation, just the opposite of Jeremy.
"I don't think so. They were to disappointed to see that they were right." I smiled again and turned my back and started going outside. "And, Jer, you don't have to keep covering your hickeys."
Jeremy growled behind me, while Micheal chuckled more.
Yup, probably this was also going to be an unforgettable day for Jeremy. Just not because the reasons I thought in the first place.
