*** two months after the Rainfall: Sans view***

I was wandering outside with Papyrus at my side. Papyrus was going on and on about Asriel and I just had to chuckle with amusement. I went into Grillby's while Pap continued walking. Grillby and I chat for a while about dad and stuff. Eventually, I head back out and I stop in my tracks. A scream rips through the air. I turn frantically to find the source and dully register that Grillby's has disappeared. The scenery around me crumbles and I'm in some caverns. I see Pap just ahead and run towards him to ask if he had heard the scream. As I was running, he seemed to be gliding further away from me. I picked up the pace, but he was pulling away from me. I screamed for him, but he didn't seem to hear me. He stopped ahead, but I got no closer. He turned his whole body towards me and I stopped dead. There was a spiral of rock going straight through his left eye. Black and red marrow was dripping from the hole and his remaining red eye. He choked out a rasping "Sans" and started floating towards me. I took a step back before running towards him. Pap was hurt, I had to help! A stalactite detached from the ceiling and shattered at my feet. I twisted to avoid it and saw another detach and, almost in slow motion, hit Pap square in the spine. He collapsed before me and rasped a few words before his eye lights died out. I clutched at his shirt desperately and shook him.

"PAP!!!" I scream, sitting bolt upright in bed.

Pap bursts into my room, in one piece and looking extremely worried. He ran up to my bed and hugged my head to his chest. I realized I was sobbing and tried to wipe my eyes. Pap makes hushing noises and rubs soothing circles on my back.

"S-sorry Pap. I had a nightmare. C-could you stay with me... please?" I mutter.

He nods and sits beside me, still rubbing my back. I calm my breathing and snuggle close to him.

"Could we not tell dad about this? I don't want to make him worry." I mumble, snuggling close to him.

He nods and we fall asleep like that.

The nightmares continue. Mostly the same every night, but with small differences. Sometimes Pap came in to comfort me, but other times he slept right through my screams. I guess it was lucky dad was always working late into the night at the lab. I doubt I could face him with this embarrassing worry of mine. I often head out to Grillby's early in the morning before dad wakes up. Both the walk and the food calm my nerves from the night terrors. I tell Grillby that I have some trouble sleeping, but he knows no more than that.

*** Sans' and Papyrus' second birthday. 3rd person p.o.v***

Asriel was now just over four years old. He, Grillby, Undyne, Alphys, and Toriel were all at the indoor party.

"Pappy!" Asriel yelled, pulling him into a tight hug.

"Flowey!" Papyrus yelled back, returning the hug.

They had created the nicknames for each other a while ago as a sort of game. Asriel gave Sans a quick hug before taking Papyrus' hand and pulling him into the kitchen for cupcakes. Sans blinks and looks around, trying to find Gaster. He sees Gaster speaking with Grillby and Alphys with Undyne. Toriel was the only one not talking with anyone, but she was busy hanging up a "Happy Birthday" banner. Sans sighs and heads upstairs alone. He closes the door of his room and walks to his closet. He pulls up a loose floorboard and fishes out a notebook and pencil that he had nabbed from his father's study. Sans sat on the bed and wrote down his most recent night terror. Meanwhile, Asriel was telling Papyrus about the Caverns that were just a while's walk away while Papyrus listened with wide eyes. Papyrus and Asriel start discussing how they'll sneak away after the happy birthday song while Gaster starts to climb the stairs. Gaster opens Sans' door to find him trying to solve a color cube. Sans had just gotten frustrated and thrown the color cube at the door. Gaster ducks as the cube hit the wall beside his head.
