Sadie's POV
I woke up that day radiant.
It felt like the sun had finally come out after years of hiding.
I'd finally get to hang with Finn. Just Finn. No Millie. Nobody else. Just Finn and Me. I walked to the kitchen and found a yellow notepad on the top door of the fridge. I grabbed it and held it close to my eyes. It said:
"Hey, Sadie, it's Finn! Good morning. I woke up around early so I could take Millie to her flight. I'll be home around 9:30 or earlier. There's some eggs on the fridge you could heat up. Remember to get ready for our beach day, all I have to do when I get home is change, so I expect you to get ready.
/-/-/—//;;:,
Sincerely, Finn."

I noticed that he had crossed out Love and replaced it with "Sincerely", it hurt me knowing he crossed out love, but at least I knew he meant it but just didn't want me to know it.
I took a shower and changed. I put on a white scoop bikini and a long slightly see-through pastel yellow skirt to cover the bikini bottom which had a long line in between so I could stick my leg.
I put on some sandals and waited for Finn to arrive.
I watched Netflix until Finn finally came. Around 9:45.
"Hey, sorry, I'm late." Finn said as soon as he opened the door inside.
He started to take off his shoes but I ran to him and hugged him. It took him a moment but he hugged back. His arms had a warm touch to my back.
He pulled away still holding my shoulders.
"You're cold as hell, did you shower with a pack of snow?" He asked and laughed.
I hugged him again and then pulled away.
"What was that for?" Finn chuckled.
"I missed you, Finn." I answered.
To be honest, it's not because I missed him, it was because every time I hugged him in front of Millie, she'd give me a slight death stare.
"Go change, I want to go to the beach." I said, punching him slightly on the shoulder.
He smiled and nodded his head.
"I'm going." He said as he walked away, he held his hands up and laughed.
Twenty minutes later, he came out of the shower. He had a red and grey t-shirt with a black swimsuit.
"Ready to go?" He asked.
I nodded.
I walked to the door, he opened it for me and bowed.
"What a gentleman." I said jokingly.
He laughed and saw me heading out. He closed the door and we got into his car.
"How's Millie?" I asked as he drove down the road.
"I don't really feel like talking about her." Finn said.
"How come?" I asked out of curiosity.
"I... just want to... make today about us," Finn answered. "Just old friends hanging out."
He took a turn to the left at an intersection. The beach was two blocks from here but he wasn't going in the right direction.
"Finn, weren't you supposed to turn left?" I asked in a worry.
"No, I wanna try this different beach my friend recommended for me." Finn answered, still looking at the road.
"What's the difference?" I asked in a nervous laughter.
"Oh, well there's different stuff to do, you know besides swim?" He said. He looked at me for a split second and then looked back at me.
"Such as..?" I asked.
"Well, there's a zip line we can go to, there's a one person or two person and there's a diving board, they have some areas for basketball and volleyball, I'm pretty sure there's a diving board and I heard there's a small cliff you can climb and jump off of." Finn explained.
"Yeah, sounds fun." I said. "How far is this?"
"Like an hour away from now." He answered.
"Might as well have a conversation." I said.
"Alright, I'll start." Finn said.
"Why do you spend so much time at Caleb's?"
"If i answer that you'll be offended." I answered.
He looked at me and said "Just answer."
"Fine, it's because I can't stand you and Millie." I answered.
"What?" Finn said in shock. "How?"
"Well, you guys fight almost every day." I answered.
"Alright, so we argue—"
"No, no it's not just that." I interrupted. "It's the makeup sex after, I appreciate you trying to be quiet but it's really gross and I get so uncomfortable just from hearing the bed squeak." I answered.
"Well, what about when we aren't fighting, or having... yeah... you're still away, why?" Finn asked.
Part of me knew it was because deep down I had feelings for Finn and it hurt me to see him even make eye contact with Finn.
"I feel like you're always fighting, even if I can't hear her." I answered.
"What do you mean?" Finn asked.
"I came home once at 8:30 a.m. and you were sleeping on our couch." I answered.
"It's not my fau—"
"Maybe just try to fuck when I'm not around and fight with words not swearing or angry fucking." I said as I awkwardly raised an eyebrow.
There was a really silent moment where all I did was look out the window. Trying not to make eye contact with Finn.
"Wanna play 20 questions?" Finn asked.
"Sure." I answered.
"I'll start," Finn said. "One, is there something I should know about Millie?"
God, that question made me nervous.
There was a couple things he should know, but as much as I hated their relationship, I didn't want to harm it.
Such as, she lost her virginity to Noah, she's hooked up with multiple guys in the past, and she used to do weed but stopped.
"No, nope, nothing." I nodded my head as I answered.
"Your turn." Finn said.
"Finn, why did you ask Millie out?" I asked.
