The day she left the Horde Orphanage she knew she wouldn't be able to face Catra. That's why she stopped taking her to the roof, walking her to her bedroom, sneaking into her bed to... talk. Because she knew that she wouldn't be able to see her for a long, long time.Adora made a promise to herself the night before was adopted. She promised to herself that she would come back for Catra the moment she left.
But it didn't work out that way.
The family came from far away, so far that Adora didn't even know where they came from or where she was going. Once she saw the plane, she knew that she was going to be very far away.
"No! No! Take me back, take me back!" Adora sobbed.
"Honey, it's going to be okay! You are going to have a wonderful home," her new Mom reassured.
"I- I left her," Adora's voice broke. She knew it was too late.
"You'll be able to talk to her again one day, I promise."
One day.
5 years later
Adora's POVAdora often liked to to pretend that she still knew her, but at this point she didn't even remember her face anymore. Her eyes, the way they were two different colors always fascinated her. But that's just about all she could remember. Oh but her laugh, her laugh always-
"Hey you okay back there?" Adora's mom had interrupted her thoughts.
"Yeah, I'm just... a little nervous. About starting at a new school." She said trying to cover up her thoughts.
"I'm sure you'll love it, Brightmoon Academy is supposed to be a wonderful school!" Her Mom said happily.
Adora gave her a weak smile as she stared out the car window, "I sure hope you're right."
Adora and her single Mom, were moving for the first time since she was adopted. But mainly because they needed a change, especially since after her father died. Heart attack.
Adora had become very attached to the sunny days in California, but where they were moving now was very different. Washington state was supposed to be the rainiest state of them all. So Adora, let's just say, was not the happiest about this move.
But she tried to stay positive because it could be worse, right?

Catra's POV
"Grab me a beer, will you?" John groaned.
"Get it yourself, you pig!" Catra scoffed, "I'm going out.."
Catra grabbed her phone and glared at her 6th foster father, John. Oh how she hated that man. He was a worthless nobody that gets off at the fact that he gets paid because of Catra.
The day Adora left, Catra's life became a complete and utter hell. Everything was fine, Catra was happy. Until she left.
Catra always hated her. She hated Adora so much for what she did. Even if they were once inseparable, but that was a time she would rather forget.
The moment Adora left, Catra went from being in an Orphanage to put into the foster care system. But apparently she isn't good enough for anyone. No one wanted to foster a girl with anger issues. As they all called it: Intermittent Explosive Disorder.
But it was never diagnosed by a doctor of course, they all just assumed.
But even so, Catra didn't need anyone else, and she never would. Because she could take care of herself, no matter how much the world was against her.
She could take care of herself better than anyone.
