Age 13

"Shh! Be quiet they're gonna hear us!" Adora said as Catra struggled to keep her laugh in.

The two girls tip toed through the long, dark halls of the Horde Orphanage. It was a very lonely, dreary place. No one tried to make you happy. The Horde was just a place where they kept you until a family finally wanted you. But happiness didn't need to exist here. For Adora and Catra, they only needed each other. That's the only happiness they would ever need.

Hand in hand, they crawled onto the roof of the large complex they called home. Legs dangling off the roof, they both peered into the night sky.

"So you find the North Star," Adora said as she pointed to sky, "And then boom! There it is! The Little Dipper! It's actually pretty simple to find."

"Yeah I uh... I still don't see it." Catra said as she squinted.

"Here," Adora grabbed Catra's hand and guided her, "See, you're pointing at the brightest star, the North Star."

"Oh y-yeah. Yeah I see it now," Catra face became hot as Adora held her hand.

"See! Simple!" Adora smiled.

Catra's expression quickly changed as she yanked her hand away from Adora, "God! Let go will you! Your hands are sweaty. It's gross!"

"What, has no one ever held your hand before??" Adora laughed.

"Of course someone has!"Catra trailed off, "Well, I don't know... hey! Don't you look at me like that! Stop! Stop it!" Catra said as she shoved her hand in Adora's face.

Adora sighed and laid back, putting her hands behind her head, "Have you ever even...liked anyone?"

"Well, I like you." Catra said as she pulled her knees in.

Catra looked at Adora, to see her cheeks a bright red. "Wait no no no! Sorry that's weird! I mean like I like you! Your my best friend!"

"Yeah that's what I meant, you weirdo." Adora said and shoved Catra.

"Did you just shove me AND call me a weirdo? I am going to END you!" Catra said as she jumped on top of Adora and began tickling her.

"You- can't- HA do THAT haha!" Adora yelled between breathes.

"Oh yes I can!! Mwahaha!" Catra said as she pinned down Adora.

Adora had been pinned by Catra for what seemed like hours. The two of them just stared at each other probably for a little too long. Catra noticed the small sparkle in Adora's eyes, as Adora noticed Catra's slight purr. They were lost in each other, and they didn't even realize it.

Once Catra finally got off, the two girls laid side by side on the cold roof catching their breathes.

"Adora," Catra said in between breathes, "Don't leave me okay? Don't ever ever leave me."

Adora turned and looked deeply into her eyes, "Catra I- I would never do that. I promise."

"Good. Cause I would literally kill you if you ever left me in this dump," Catra smirked and jumped to her feet.

"It's probably about time we head to bed, huh."

"Definitely."
