Epilogue

5 years later
I sat in Central Park reading The Great Gatsby. I hummed to myself, trying to focus. But, I couldn't help, but dwelling on my past.
I had staid in the hospital for two months, for special care. Finally, I convinced them to let me go. I had to leave. The first place I thought of was New York, New York. It was the closes thing I had to Loki. So, I did what any girl would do, I moved there.
And here I was by myself - no Loki, no Thor, no Lottie, no anybody.
I opened the book back up and continued reading, until somebody sat next to me. My eyes traveled to the person. He looked partially familiar - green eyes, black hair. Hmm. I thought. Then I saw his cheekbones. Loki always had nice cheekbones. I felt my eyes tear. The man looked at me with concern.
It clicked.
"Loki?" I asked.
He grinned.
I jumped on him and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I must have left an imprint on you," Loki toyed.
Completely ignoring his comment I said, "You cut your hair." I touched his dark hair that looked modern. "It's short. And looks good on you."
"Thank you," he replied, still smiling. Then he stopped and asked, "Astrid?"
"Yes?"
"Why?"
My eyes teared up more and I said, "I couldn't take it. I... I didn't realize I loved you. And I didn't want anything to happen to you, either. Everything was just so overwhelming. And then overtop of everything, I find out I'm not entirely human. You understand?"
He thought it through.
"Loki, please."
"Yes, I understand. Just don't do anything like that ever again."
My eyes bunched.
"I'm not leaving. I'm staying right here with you."
I couldn't hold back the tears and they fell down my face.
"Oh gosh. What's wrong?"
"They're tears of joy, idiot."
He smiled.
I leaned in and kissed him, hard - really hard.
