Your POV

I eagerly board the plane to New York. The orphanage back in Charlestown chipped in to help me study in King's College. I'm also going to see my twin brother, Alexander. It's been years since we've seen each other because he wanted to study here in New York, but I stayed back there. I find my seat and sit down. I downloaded the first movie of Lord of the Rings on my laptop since I'm too lazy to read the book. I plug in my earphones and click on the three-hour film.
-
I wake up up from my nap as we land. The flight was four hours. I get out of the plane and grab my bags from the airport. I go out and the guard calls a taxi for me. I silently thank him and I get in.
"King's College, please." I inform the driver. He nods. I pay him as we get closer. I get out, excited to see the school and Alex.
-
I enter the building, which is quite empty. I go to the lobby and show the email they sent. I already signed up online months ago, so I dont have to worry about that. The lady gives me the keys to my dorm. I leave the lobby to see a man my age, with a familiar pair of dark brown eyes.

Its Alex.
"Alexander?" I grin. He doesnt return the excitement. Instead, he looks surprised, then he scowls.
"Y/n?" He growls. I stare at him wide-eyed, why does he seem so angry?
"Did I do something wrong? What happened? How are you-?" He cuts me off.
"Wrong? What do you think?" He says, almost yelling. I start getting annoyed.
"I don't know, man. You tell me." I narrow my eyes at him, trying to keep calm.

"You let our fucking mother die, Y/n! That's one of the reasons why I left!" He hisses. Tears sting my eyes but I blink hard to prevent them from spilling.
Ieer my eyes.
"Do you think I actually had a fucking choice? Do you think I actually wanted her to die?!"

I cant believe he thinks that. I doubt he actually cares for our mother because he was just off with his "friends" which I told him to stay away from. I started picking up the fact that I'm the only sensible person between us.
He doesn't know what to say, and he hates that.
He pushes me to the wall. I hit the back of my head, hard. I groan at the impact.

"Yes!!" He screams. "I think you let her die when you didnt care for her properly."
My eyes harden at his choice of words.
"Well I wasn't the one to leave their sister to leave their dying mother in their house with no money!! I know you spent it all on drinking yet I still didnt confront to you about it."

Luckily, there aren't any other people aside from Alex, me, and a figure running towards our direction.
Alex pushes me harder. As my body hits the ground, I hear a feminine voice.
"Alexander Hamilton, stop whatever you're doing this instant!!" The woman growls.
Alex stops moving, his eyes dart around nervously.  He finally takes a deep breath.
"She let my mother die!!" He desperately says.

"I really don't think thats an excuse to hurt the poor kid!!"
"I think were the same age, but that's fine..." I mutter under my breath only enough for me to hear.

"You said she let your mother die! Does that mean you gave her all of the responsibility while you did nothing to help?!" She yells

Alex storms off, not anymore knowing what to say.
The girl rushes to me and helps me up. She's wearing a plain blue shirt while her silky black har is tied back to a ponytail with a blue satin ribbon.

"Are you alright? Oh obviously you're not!! I'm guessing you're new here because I haven't seen you around. Elizabeth Schuyler, but you can call me Eliza." She smiles.
I blink a few times to absorb everything she just said and smile back.
"Y/n, Y/n Hamilton." She looks shocked.

"Hamilton? Alexander never mentioned having a sister." She says, shaking her head.
I shrug. We stand in comfortable silence. I decide to finally speak up.
"Hey, since you're currently the only decent person here, can I have your number?" I ask

"Sure!" We exchange numbers, then I remember something.
"Dangit, my plan is expired." I mumble. "Do you know the where the nearest 7-11 is?"
She nods. "Yeah, as you exit the building you turn left to cross the street. It's the first store you'll see as you arrive."
"Thanks!! Also, can you text me your dorm so that we can hang out later?"
"Ok, see you." She smiles. We wave each other goodbye and I leave the building. I cross the street like she said and enter the store. I enter the code and receive a message from Eliza.

Eliza: My dorm is A16
You: Thanks, meet you at 4:00?

As I hit send, I feel someone bump into my shoulder. I accidentally drop my phone from the sudden movement. My eyes widen until a hand catches it. I sigh in relief.

"Shit! I'm so sorry," a deep, and not to mention attractive voice spoke up.
"I'm John, by the way."
"Y/n." I sigh
I look up to see a very cute boy, with freckles scattered across his- wait blushing? cheeks. His beautiful hazel-green eyes staring into the deep depths of mine. His long curly brown hair tied in a low ponytail.

Wow, I think, this is so cliche.

I blink. Realising I've been staring, heat rises to my face. He smirks and hands me my phone. I grab it from him.
We stand there in awkward silence. He finally clears his throat,
"Can I, uh, have your number? I'd love to hang out someday." he smiles.

Ohmygodohmygodohmygod a hot guy just asked for number. C'mon, don't be silly, Y/n, he said hang out not on a date. Hanging out means you guys are friends.

"Sure," I giggle. Wait what was that? A giggle? My god, Y/n. I mentally slap myself.
We exchange numbers and wave each other goodbye. I sigh dreamily at the thought. Goddammit I'm so foolish. But I can't fucking help it.

I'm helpless.
