"Wouldn't it be better to let the people have a final say and second vote, now that the truth is out, and the lies have been exposed?"

Nicola asked and gave a little provocative smirk.

"Don't think I don't know what you're implying" he chuckled. "I know perfectly well what I'm doing and wouldn't dream of putting my own views or words into the chamber of ministers mouths, however tempting it may be!", he replied as he gave her a cheeky wink.

Nicola scoffed and tucked her hair behind her ear.

"I think the chamber knows exactly what your views on the matter are. Why don't you stand up to them? You have the authority John, just think about what you could achieve."

John sighed as he shook his head.

"I may have authority as speaker Nicola, but you seem to be under the illusion that with it comes the power to overrule and as you put it, 'meddle' with the natural procedures and protocols of the house, in which I unequivocally do not have the right or powers to do so at all."

They both gave a disgruntled shuffle in their seats and resigned to disagree on the matter, after several onlookers commented on the tension in the air between them under their breaths.
