WAS BAKUGOU KATSUKI ALLOWED TO BE HAPPY? It was a question he pondered over often. Did he deserve to be happy?

Sometimes, he finds his lips twitching upwards from some stupid joke Shitty Hair said. But he always forces it off his face before anyone could catch it. Did he deserve to be happy? Did he?

How could he even be happy? What was happiness? Now that he thought about it, he couldn't remember the last time he felt happy. He was always fuming with anger as a child, his own insecurities fueling the fire. Because stupid Deku was always fucking smiling, even through all the shit Katsuki put him through.

Why was he always smiling?

Perhaps it was to hide the pain from everyone, to show the world that he was determined to be the hero he claimed he would be. Or maybe... maybe it was his own way of convincing himself he was okay. If he could just smile through it, he would be fine, right?

Katsuki would never know what went on in the greenette's head, no matter how much he wanted to. Oh, if he could only turn back time and reverse his actions.

"Bakubro, let's go!" Kirishima said, pulling the ash-blonde out of his thoughts. He quietly followed behind the red-head, not bothering to give his friend(is he even one? Bakugou didn't know) an answer. Not that Kirishima was expecting one, he had gotten used to Bakugou's silence fairly quickly.

It had been a week since they hung out at the arcade. It seemed that the red-head had made it his personal goal to befriend the silent, unresponsive teen. For whatever the reason, he was always trying to involve Katsuki in his friend group that included a pink alien-like girl with raccoon eyes, a walking pikachu, and a guy with weird ass elbows. They all were kind to Katsuki, but also wary. The only one who was completely relaxed around the seemingly emotionless ash-blond was Kirishima.

In a way, the two were almost fated to be friends. Kirishima was loud and full of energy. He was constantly talking and when he wasn't, he was most likely laughing. It worked well with Bakugou's adapted personality. The quiet nature that Katsuki had gotten used to was disrupted by the red-head, but he found that he didn't really mind. Though, it did throw him into an inner-turmoil, constantly asking if he deserved to have such a nice friend.

Kirishima was able to talk to Katsuki without making things awkward. How he did it? Bakugou would never know. That girl Uraraka was also keeping close to Katsuki. Maybe it was because he saved her during the exams, but she was relentless with her chattering as she tried to start a conversation with him at least once a day. But he was honestly grateful for the two of them, the loneliness that ached in the pit of his stomach was being somewhat filled.

But what kept troubling him, what he kept coming back to, was did he deserve that loneliness to be eased? Who had been there to fill that void in Deku?

No one.

So, why would Katsuki get that?

It wasn't fair. Not to Deku.
