CHAPTER FIVE
HIS JERSEY

marley griffin.

i waved at ethan as he pulled out of my driveway. i shut the front door behind me and slid my vans off.

ethan <3
it's always a fun time
with you mars

me
you too, ethan. don't
text and drive. ♡
read.

as ethan and i were beginning to hang out more, we learned more about each other. some small things, some important things. our home lives, and how others treated us.

ethan was beginning to not just become my friend, but my best friend. at least my best guy friend.

i always thought ethan and grayson only wanted to get in your pants and then dip, but ethan was seeming to be different.

"out with ethan again? wow." cait's body stood at the bottom of the stairs.

i grinned. "mhm."

she walked into the kitchen, i trailed behind her. "good for you. it's your junior year, a great time for you to start branching out and get your nose out of that damn book."

"don't disrespect a good novel."

cait put her hands in the air defensively. "i'm not! proud of you though."

the school cafeteria

ethan placed a water in front of me. instead of sitting with his group, we sat at a table in the back of the cafeteria. working on our projects was our most important goal right now.

"what's the prompt again?"

i made an 'o' shape with my mouth. "ethan!"

"i'm kidding, marley. but really will you read it one more time?"

i rolled my eyes. "choose a person that plays an important role in your life. who are they? why are they important to you? how long have you known them? favorite memory? don't leave out any important details."

"okay got it now. basically a free write." ethan told me.

"you had it before, you just wanted me to read it again for your own enjoyment." i spoke and he laughed.

this was due in a little less than two months and i already had so much written. i knew what i wanted to put on the paper right when i read the prompt for the first time.
