Bill's POV:
I ran to the open window that the clown had just disappeared out of. I tried to look and see where it went but it was so dark that I couldn't see anything. I felt numb. Echo said Pennywise would take one of us, but I didn't expect it to be her. If only I held onto her hand a little tighter. Maybe she wouldn't have been taken. I wished it would just take me. I was the one who dragged all my friends into this mess, and now they were suffering for it. We couldn't let her die. I couldn't have two deaths on my hands. She couldn't end up like Georgie. But we also had to help Eddie. His head was in Richie's lap. Richie kept holding the towel against the cut on his head. Mike and Ben came back into the bathroom."The ambulance is on the way," said Mike, "They'll be here soon. The story is that Eddie slipped and fell backwards and hit his head on the mirror."
"Please don't....tell me you called my mom," said Eddie faintly.
"Sorry Eddie," said Mike, "She'll be mad enough that her son got hurt at a sleepover that she didn't even want him at in the first place. I'm pretty sure she'd be more mad if we didn't tell her about it."
"Oh great."
"Where's Echo?" asked Ben.
"I-It took her," I said solemnly, "W-we have to get her back."
"We can't just leave Eddie," said Richie.
"We'll wait for the ambulance to come," said Stan, "Then once Eddie is in the hospital we'll go get Echo. We know where she'll be. Pennywise doesn't necessarily have a lot of different hideouts."
"Wh-what if we run out of time?" I asked, "We might be t-too late by the time we get there. Hell, sh-she could already be dead by now."
"Bill, did you see her just now?" said Bev, "She wasn't afraid. Not one bit. It can't kill her if she's not afraid. She also kinda has superpowers. She'll be okay."
Just then we started to hear sirens. I looked out the window and saw an ambulance coming around the corner, followed by Mrs. Kaspbrak's car.
"R-Richie and Bev, come outside to t-talk to them," I said, "Ben, Mike, and Stan, s-stay here with Eddie."
"Why do I have to come outside?" asked Richie, "I don't know if I want to face Mrs. K."
"This is y-your house. You'll have to e-explain where your parents are."
Richie seemed reluctant to leave Eddie but got up anyway. He carefully switched places with Stan. Eddie winced at the movement. We went up outside and saw Mrs. Kaspbrak, storming up to the front porch. She was probably one of the scariest people on the planet, next to the clown and Henry Bowers.
"Where's my son and what did you do to him?" she asked, grabbing the collar of Richie's shirt. Richie seemed too shaken to speak.
"E-Eddie's inside," I said, intervening for Richie's sake, "We d-didn't do anything to him b-besides call the ambulance and help stop the bleeding."
A few medics went into the house carrying a stretcher. A medic came up to us.
"That'll be all Sonia. I need to ask these kids a few questions," he said. Mrs. K sighed and let go of Richie's shirt and walked back over to her car. "Jeez, Mrs. Kaspbrak is a piece of work, that's for sure."
"That's an understatement," said Bev.
"So what exactly happened?"
"Our friend, Eddie, slipped and cut his head open on the mirror in the bathroom."
"How much time has elapsed since this happened?"
"Not a lot," I said, "F-five minutes tops."
"Ok, that's not too bad. I think he'll be okay. Where are you guys' parents?"
Richie finally found his voice. "We were all sleeping over at my house. My parents left for a business meeting in Augusta about four hours ago, and my grandparents who were coming to watch me, aren't arriving till morning.
"Ok, so they're not home. Did you call them to let them know what happened?"
"No, not yet."
"Well, I think you all should call your parents and let them know what happened, and then we'll take Eddie in. You'll be able to see him tomorrow."
The medics came out of the house with Eddie on the stretcher, followed by Stan, Mike, and Ben. We all went up to the stretcher.
"Eddie," said Richie, "We won't be able to see you till tomorrow, but you'll be okay."
"I know," he said, "Make sure Echo is okay before you worry about me....just don't get killed. Also, do you know if it's bad if I'm seeing....two of you?"
"Uh, Eds," said Richie, "I think that's 'cause you're losing too much blood."
"Oh yeah, that's probably it."
Mrs. Kaspbrak came up to the stretcher.
"Oh, Eddie Bear, I told you that your friends were putting you in danger. This is all their fault."
Eddie looked like he was in a lot of pain, but he still managed to glare up at his mother. "Mom, nothing is ever their fault. I just....slipped and fell. They did nothing but help me. It would have been way worse if they weren't there."
Eddie kept switching from arguing with his mom to trying to stay conscious until they got settled in the ambulance. I watched as the ambulance drove away and rounded the corner. We went back into the house to get ready to save Echo. Richie left a note for his parents letting them know what happened and then we helped him clean up the bathroom. We grabbed a few things that we could use to protect ourselves, then rode on our bikes to the Neibolt house. I got a shiver down my spine as we approached the house, like I always did whenever I passed Neibolt street. But I knew I couldn't be afraid. Because then It could hurt me.
"You okay, Bill?" Bev asked me.
"Y-yeah."
Bev raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"
I shook my head. "No. B-but we have to save Echo."
"Should we have someone keep watch?" said Stan, "Just, you know, in case something happens."
"Stan, we have to stay together," said Bev, picking up a broken post from the metal fence that surrounded the house, "If we aren't all united, we'll all die. We established that a long time ago. Eddie can't be here with us, so we can't kill It today. We'll get in, find Echo, and get out. If we're lucky, we won't even run into the clown."
"But God knows luck like that doesn't exist in this town," said Richie swinging a baseball bat over his shoulder. The same bat that we used last year.
I gazed at the house. It was unwelcoming as ever, but looked even worse when it was dark out. I sighed.
"Let's go," I said, "The s-sooner we find Echo, the b-better."
We all walked up the creaky steps to the porch and entered that haunting crack house. The house that I dreaded so much.
"We're coming Echo," I thought to myself.
