We entered the house that we had just escaped from earlier that day. The dread I felt inside of me was almost sickening.
Don't be afraid. Just don't be afraid. Then you'll be fine.
I wished it was that simple.
"I-it's this way," said Bill, pointing towards the room with the well in the center.
We went up to the well and I looked down it. The drop went so far down that I couldn't see the bottom. That was probably for the best though. I had a feeling I didn't want to know what was at the bottom. Falling down that thing did not sound appealing.
"Alright," said Richie, hoisting himself up onto the side of the well and taking hold of the rope hanging from the hook in the center, "Pip-pip and taleo my friends. Andalé."
He saluted before going down the rope and stopping at a tunnel about ten feet down.
"Careful," Richie called up to us, "It's a little slippery."
Bev went next. Then Eddie, then Ben, then Stan, then Mike, then Bill. I looked down at the water thirty feet below me before exhaling and getting ready to climb up onto the edge of the well. Suddenly, I heard the creaking sound of a door opening behind me. I whipped my head around, but suddenly a figure rushed at me and pulled me to the ground. The person lunged at me with a knife, and I was barely able to block it. Once I got a better look at the person, I recognized him immediately. Henry Bowers. He was covered in blood and he had a crazed look on his face as if he had gone completely insane. He looked as if he had just killed someone, and come to think of it, that was probably exactly what he had done.
"What the hell?!" I said, struggling to keep the knife away from my chest.
"Kill....them all. I have to kill them all."
He was going to kill me if I didn't do something fast. I put all my strength into pushing him away from me, then picked myself up onto my feet. Henry lunged at me again but I moved out of the way. I used my powers to throw him into the wall. He crumpled to the ground and fell motionless. I wiped the blood from my nose and climbed up onto the edge of the well. Bill looked up from the tunnel.
"Y-you okay, Echo?" he called up to me.
"Yeah, I'm okay."
I grabbed ahold of the rope and started climbing down it, careful not to let my hands slip, despite the fact that they were shaking from using my powers. About five feet down from the top, I started to feel something tugging at the rope. I looked up and saw Bowers cutting at the rope. Bill saw him too.
"Echo, hurry!"
I climbed down faster. I reached the tunnel where the Losers were and reached out for Bill's hand. As soon as I held onto it, the rope broke. I let out a scream as my foot missed the ground. Thankfully, Bill still held on. I heard a yelp from above me, and suddenly a body falling down past me, then a splash at the far bottom, where there was water. Bowers must have slipped. The Losers all grabbed me by the arms and helped pull me up. I collapsed into Bill's arms, out of breath. I tried not to think about how that could have been me if I had taken a few more seconds.
"Are you okay?" asked Bev.
I nodded.
"Y-you're bleeding," said Bill, pointing to my shoulder, where blood was dripping from a small cut.
