3. MEETING THE TEAM

When the car stopped, the group had arrived at a clearing, where there stood a jet in the middle, with a man stood outside it. Nico's stomach churned at the thought of getting into that thing and entering Zeus' domain. The demigods got out of the car and walked towards it.

"You Chiron's kids?" the man called as they approached.

"Depends who's asking," replied Percy.

"I'll take that as a yes. You kids gotta get in and I'll take you to meet Fury."

The group exchanged looks but decided they should do it, and Annabeth led the way by getting in first. There were seats around the walls of the pretty large jet, and everyone sat down and buckled themselves in. Nico and Percy looked to each other in fear. They hated flying. Nico had done many terrifying things and faced many fears, he'd been to Tartarus for gods' sake, yet the thought of lifting into this air in this made him sick.

His fear became reality as the death trap lifted off the ground, and he squeezed his thigh, attempting to take his mind off of it. The group chatted a bit as Nico steadied his breathing, and after what felt like forever but was probably no time at all, they were lowering again. They stepped out of the jet as the doors opened and found themselves on a gigantic boat, other jets all around them.

There were a quite a few people wandering between jets. Nico then spotted three people towards the middle of the platform, and had a feeling they'd be really important. He started walking towards them and gestured for the other demigods to follow his lead. As the group got closer to the three people, Nico began noticing some more details. They were two men and a woman. The woman had short, red hair. She was wearing a mostly black outfit with a red shirt and an expression that said not to get on her bad side. One of the men had blond hair and a retro-style outfit. He was tall and had strong arms. The other had curly brown hair and looked slightly more nervous than the other two. They looked to be in deep conversation. The two guys shook hands.

The demigods reached them and they turned to look at the group of teenagers. The girl raised a questioning eyebrow.

"Fury never said he was recruiting a group of children," she said.

Percy's eyebrows furrowed. He opened his mouth to say something but Annabeth nudged him to shut him up. The blond man stepped forward.

"I'm Steve Rogers," he introduced himself and held out a hand for someone to shake. Nico took it.

"I'm Nico. This is Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Alex, Magnus, and Will," Nico answered, gesturing to each of his friends in turn. Steve nodded his head. He gestured to the red head and the other guy.

"This is Agent Romanoff and Dr Banner," he told the demigods. Romanoff kept her stern look while Banner gave a very small smile and a nod. The group began walking, the three adults walking slightly ahead, and the demigods following closely behind. Romanoff said something to the other guys that Nico couldn't quite make out. The next thing that was said, Nico could make out though.

"Is this a submarine?" asked Rogers.

"Cool," Percy muttered under his breath.

"Really?" questioned Doctor Banner, "they want me in a submerged, pressurised, metal container?" Nico didn't know what he meant be that. What was wrong with Banner being in a submarine?

The two guys walked to the side of the platform and looked over the edge, followed by Percy, Annabeth, Will, and Magnus. The group looked in awe at the large propeller like thing emerging from the water. As Nico looked around, he realised that the propeller things were all around the boat. Then he realised it was lifting into the air.

"No, no," Doctor Banner said. "This is much worse." Nico looked at him in confusion from behind. He wasn't for going towards the edge, and apparently Alex felt the same. The two hung back a bit.

The large group walked inside as they were lifted up out of the water and into the air. They walked down a hallway and Romanoff opened a door which led to a large room filled with people working at computers and other types of advanced looking technology. Nico and the others looked around in awe. On a platform in the middle of it all stood a tall man with an eyepatch wearing a long black jacket that fell to his ankles. Nico assumes this was Fury.

Fury walked up towards Steve, and Steve, for some reason, handed Fury 10 bucks. Nico looked at them in confusion. Fury then walked over to Banner and started a conversation. Percy and Jason were geeking out over all the cool stuff while Annabeth, Magnus and Alex talked. Nico wasn't sure what about though. Will walked towards Nico.

"Cool, right?" Will said to Nico once they were side by side. Nico just nodded his head as if he found it kind of interesting. Truth was, he thought this place was totally awesome. But he would never embarrass himself as bad as to say that aloud. "It's pretty cool," he muttered.

"Aw c'mon, don't lie, Neeks," Will said with a playful smile. Nico rolled his eyes. His friend could be really annoying sometimes. Most of his friends were. Not that he had very many. Or so he thought anyway. Other people say otherwise.

Fury, Steve, Romanoff, Banner, Annabeth, and some more agents from around the room were now conversing. They were using big words that Nico wasn't bothered to pay attention to. Instead, he focused on the large window on the opposite side of the room which Nico currently stood. They rose higher and higher into the air and Nico started to become slightly worried. They were in Zeus' territory now. Although, he probably wouldn't try anything right now as Jason was in the plane with them. He probably wouldn't shoot down a plane holding one of his favourite sons in it. This fact seemed to relax Nico a bit.

Then, Agent Romanoff was asked to show Doctor Banner his 'lab'. The red head made her way out of the room in a few strides, hastily followed by Banner. The rest stared after them for a minute, before turning back to Fury.
