"Bleep. Bleep. Bleep." Indigo's alarm clock let out a series of extremely irritating rings. Usually, the noise would have vexed Indigo, but not today. Indigo sat up in her bed, a smile dancing upon her face. It was a special day, and Indigo had been looking forward to it for such a long time. She threw open her covers. Sure, she had school today, but it was a Friday, she could at least enjoy the rest of the day after school.
Since Indigo and Sam stopped hanging out, she had been taking the bus everywhere, she used to take rides in Sam's second hand car. It wasn't that she minded taking the bus, she didn't mind at all- it was green and environmentally friendly, but truthfully, she missed Sam. She missed the times they sang in the car at the top of their lungs to whatever song that came on the radio as badly as they could- just for the fun of it. She missed looking forward to biology class, where they were partners and they would get in trouble together for doing something stupid. (She does the singing in the car thing with Andy, but since switching partners in biology class wasn't allowed, now biology class was just awkward and weird.) she wanted to apologize to Sam, she wanted things back the way they were, she wanted them to be best friends again. But she was too scared to talk to him, she couldn't even stand the thought of being turned down by Sam, it made her chest tighten painfully. But she didn't want to think about it. Not today. Because today was a special day.
The first class Indigo had to attend was biology. She assured herself it would be fine, it was going to be okay, she would get through the lesson without talking to Sam.
***
Sam was feeling nervous today. He had to talk to Indigo. He knew he had been a jack ass, he wanted his best friend back. He knew his selfish pride had got in the way of their friendship. He was afraid that she might turn down his apology, but it was worth a try. He looked up just as Indigo walked in. She was wearing a light brown hoodie and a white sweater. Her ink black hair, streaked with different shades of brown, brought out the fairness of her skin and the shine in her eyes. Sam felt himself flush as she flicked her hair out of her eyes and greeted her classmates with a dazzling smile. She was really beautiful. And at that moment, Sam regretted not telling her about his feelings earlier- if he had, she could've been his. Indigo halted in front of his desk, she started to smile when she saw him, but her smile wavered quickly, as if she just remembered they were still in a fight. She sat down awkwardly. Sam chewed on his lower lip nervously, before tearing out a piece of paper from his notebook. On top of it, he scribbled "hey Indigo, can we talk?" He passed the note to Indigo.
Indigo stared at the note, her eyes taking in every word. Uncapping her pen, she wrote in neat letters, "yeah, sure." Before passing the note back.
Sam was ecstatic. At least Indigo didn't reject him, crumple up the paper and toss it into a waste paper basket. That was promising.

Hi guys, the next part of this chapter will be in conversation form. I'm using my cell phone to type this so I can't change the font to make it easier to read. Sorreh, but I will sign the character's name after the message.
~Marley)
I'm sorry about everything that happened. I was a total dick. I really miss you.
~Sam.
I miss you, too. I'm really sorry about overreacting.
~Indigo.
It's alright. Hmm... I thought it might've taken more than that to win back your forgiveness.
~Sam.
Honestly, I did, too. But you have no idea how much I wanted you back in my life. I'm so glad we're friends again. :)
~Indigo.
Sam felt a smile stretch across his face when he read what Indigo wrote. He looked up to see the biology teacher glaring pointedly at him.
Talk to you after class. Grenald's looking this way. Ps. I'm glad, too.
~Sam.
***After class.
Sam waited outside the biology classroom for Indigo. At last, she stepped outside. Sam smiled unconsciously, waving at her a little shyly. To both his delight and surprise, Indigo rushed straight into his arms, wrapping her arms around his waist, burying her face in his chest. She smiled, her eyes filling with tears upon inhaling his familiar scent. "I missed you." She whispered. Sam's heart plummeted, he wrapped his arms around her, returning the hug. It was the best hug ever. At that moment, Sam wanted Indigo so badly, it hurt. "I've been meaning to tell you," he said after a while. "Happy 19th birthday."
***After school.
Indigo and Sam strolled down the giant steps in front of their school. Just then, a blonde figure waved at Indigo. She froze.
Sammi Doll.
Sammi smiled broadly as Indigo waved back excitedly upon recognition. Sammi was looking gorgeous, as always. Indigo hopped down the steps enthusiastically and greeted Sammi with a hug. "What are you doing here?" Indigo asked, her eyes sparkling like a child on Christmas morning. "Andy told me to get you. But before we go to his place, I need to take you somewhere." Sammi answered, flashing a bright, cheerful smile, before dragging Indigo towards her car. Indigo twisted around to give Sam a confused smile and a small wave before disappearing into the crowd.
