"Maya, you're not going to learn anything if you keep falling asleep in class." Cory said as he passed back their graded test papers. He placed her paper on top of her folded arms when she lifted her head up a little.
Maya groaned. "Another D?"
Cory sighed. "Did you study at all?"
Maya yawned. "Sorta, but I fell asleep, then when I woke up again I didn't want to study more." She shrugged.
"Maya, you need to study and try to get a good nights sleep, okay?"
Maya gave a little salute. "Yes Sir, Mr. Matthews." She yawned again.
Cory sighed and shook his head. The bell rang and his students left the class to go to their next class.
"Maya, you have to stop sleeping in all of your classes." Riley lectured.
"Yeah, they're not that boring. They are actually very interesting." Farkle mentioned. Smackle nodded her agreement, standing by her man.
"Well, I think they are boring, but you still gotta stay awake during them or else the teachers get mad." Zay said.
Lucas stifled a yawn. "Yeah Maya, how come your sleeping in class more than usual?" He asked making her turn.
"It's not more than usual! I always fall asleep in history class. History is boring! Plus Matthews will fill me in on whatever he was teaching so-"
"Maya, you can't just rely on my Daddy to re-teach you what he already taught our whole class while you were napping." Riley stated.
Lucas furrowed his eyebrows. "You fall asleep in more than history class. Yesterday, you fell asleep in biology."
Maya scoffed. "Well, biology is boring too and I didn't really fall asleep."
Lucas scoffed too. "You fell asleep in my hand!" He sighed. "Look, Maya, Riley is just worried about you. We all are." He softened his tone of voice.
Maya stared at him for a moment. "No need to worry, Huckleberry. I'm fine."
"Maya-"
"I'm fine, Riles." Maya gave her a smile. "I will get a good nights sleep tonight and not fall asleep in class tomorrow, okay?" She shrugged.
Riley smiled back. "Promise?"
"Promise." Maya nodded.
"Let's go get smoothies!" Zay yelled.
"And study!" Farkle yelled happily walking away with Smackle.
Riley skipped merrily behind them. Maya was about to follow her best friend, but Lucas put his hand on her shoulder making her turn around.
"Hey, if you have trouble sleeping-"
Maya scoffed. "I don't have trouble. I just find school to be very boring."
"Well, if you can't sleep at night, text me, okay?" He pulled nervously on the strap of his backpack. "Okay?"
"What, and wake you up?"
Lucas sighed. "Just text me. Promise?"
Maya let out a breath. "Sure Cowboy, whatever you say. I'll text you."
He smiled down at her. "Good."
