"Luke, are you sure you're okay?" I asked, rolling my eyes.

"Mhm," He mumbled into my shirt. It was too dark for me to know if he was shutting his eyes or not.

We had shut all the lights in Luke's house and decided to watch a horror mystery film, while Luke's dad was visiting his mum at the hospital for the night; since she has been shot in the leg from the incident.

"You know, we can just watch a Disney movie, or a romantic comedy? It says right here this is 16+ when we're clearly not sixteen." I said, waving the dvd cover around.

"No! I'm not scared, i... i'm just- can you please hand over the popcorn?"

"whatever's left of it- sure. Just don't scream and throw the plate and make a mess." I laughed, "you're going to clean that up, right? It is your house after all."

"Sure, just after Janice realizes that Nick... NO! NICK WONT! AHA! I knew it was Derek after all." Luke sighed and sat up as the credits started rolling.

For the past hour and a half, Luke was clutching to the blanket covering him while hiding his face into my shirt to not watch the gross parts. I was fine with horror. I enjoyed that movie, as I recall, but Luke was too busy screaming every now and then, dropping the plate of popcorn when there was a jump scare and making a mess all over his carpet.

"Luke?"

"Yeah," Luke sniffed, he was facing away from me ever since the movie ended.

"Are... oh my god! Are you crying?" I tried to stop myself from laughing, but I couldn't.

"No." Luke said softly, wiping his eyes and turning his face to look at me with a smile. I noticed his pupils dilating and I stopped laughing.

His blond hair was in a fluffy mess with a few strands falling into his puffy eyes.

"Luke," Something hit me and I felt bad for him. He looked like he was hurt, or really scared. I got closer to him on the couch and embraced him. "I'm sorry for laughing. I just- I don't know, I dont find these things scary."

He started laughing and pushing me away. "What the hell, Zoey? I'm not crying." He laughed again, "See? I'm fine. It's over now and it wasn't that bad at the end."

I looked at him and I saw a pretty boy with puffy eyes. Except I didn't tell him that. Maybe he wasn't lying, and he didn't actually cry like I thought so. I crossed my arms and said, "Well, if you're fine then you better start cleaning the mess you've made."

"Ehh, maybe my dad'll do it tomorrow." He said and relaxed on the couch.

"Luke, come on."

"How about instead of bossing me around, you do it?"

"Excuse me? This is your house. Your mess. I'm not going to clean your mess." I stood up angrily, "If you're going to keep acting like a lazy scaredy-cat then i'm leaving."

"Hey, hey, relax. Nobody's leaving, that was a joke. I'll clean it up immediately, just..." Luke took my hand and pulled me closer to him till I was standing in front of him. He then grabbed my hips and pulled me on his lap.
