Chapter Eight

Yna, could not hide away the tears that dropped  from her eyes.  It was early in the morning when her mother queen Ysa stormed in her room to wake her up.
"Are you not going to say farewell  to your companions?"
She remembered  it was today that her company are going to Coleene's  Kingdom. She and Haggart  have important matters to attend  to and they will just follow  them in a couple of days.
She stood up and asked her Mother,
"Have they already left?"
Queen Ysa smiled  and replied,"Not yet my dear but they will soon be gone if you don't hurry up. Haggart  is at the Courtyard  helping them prepare. Now go. You might still catch them if you hurry.
She walked straight not minding the very slight irritation on her healing sprained  ankle.  She met Coleene  and Morielle  standing at the top of the stairs near the courtyard, Haggart  Dhugal and Alaris stood waiting  below all looking up searching the skies  until  Alaris pointed to the west. At first all they saw was a speck until it began to took shapes,  Those are birds of some kind. Those were Rocs.
These are not the ordinary size rocs,these ones are bigger then giant eagles. Much slower but much ferocious. Yet only one man was controlling  them. The birds dropped down one by one forming a big cloud dust as they folded their spread wings.
The solitary figure dismounted from the back of the smallest bird.
Jumping excitedly  with agility dropping  to the ground.  He rushed past the three men and went to bow courteously to the waiting ladies. He was just a boy of about 12.
Addressing  his greetings towards Morielle, "Well met Lady Morielle, Well met my ladies".  I come in a hurry  and I will not miss this flight for anything in the world! Trying to catch  his breath.
And then a voice behind them spoke .
Not even for my delicious cookies?
"Nan!"and he ran and hugged the queen  who was obviously  fond of  this boy. And she led him inside the castle.
Morielle  approached the birds and softly  whistled and all of the birds sat. Morielle  instructed the men to put up the saddles behind the back of the birds just like  they would do to a horse. And to secure the riders she took the straps that was attached to the smallest roc and gave it to the men. They attached it to each bird by linking it to  the saddles.
Coleene  have hugged Yna  for farewell.   Yna promised that she and Haggart would follow on the next days just in time for Coleene's  Birthday.
Morielle  gave Yna a peck on her cheeks.  Saying to make sure her feet would be okey on the next days ahead for there will be dancing at the celebrations  and they girls laughed.
Just in time for the queen to show up leading the little  boy who was munching up cookies  and holding a bag full of cookies and other small delicacies.
Seeing that the birds were already  set up and saddled  the boy quickly tucked away the remaining cookies and turned to the Queen. 
"I would gladly  like to stay longer Nan, err ,your highness, but my duty awaits.  I wish I could visit you more often."
"And I wish you do that! My little Pan.".was the queen's reply. Letting everyone see her special fondness  with the boy.
Before the boy was able to ran back to his bird , Yna  took Pan by the shoulder and said." Little Pan , How would like to go and fetch me and Haggart two days from now?
And the boys eyes glimmered in excitement.
And looking at the smiling queen he replied,  I would be most happy to.
And he leaped upon his bird.
Every  one was already saddled  and the Roc flew one by one and Yna waved Goodbye  with Haggart  holding her shoulder,and the Queen standing by her bbn other side. The tears the fell were happy tears

The flight took them a couple of hours. They soar  upward so high that Alaris got air sick.  They soar over mountains  and hills. They saw the bluffs and the mountains as they passed by the fields below. And then they headed westward above the low lying  clouds hiding them from eyes below that might be looking above.

They arrived on a big solitary mountain and Pan went first circling  a couple of times before landing the roc. Then the others followed.
As soon as everyone  have landed, Alaris ran towards a big pine tree and emptied  his stomach.  When he returned Coleene offered her a drink from a flask she had brought  along.  He  turned to the smiling Dhugal and said. I had too much of the wine last night. And every one laughed.  Except  for pan who have seen this incident  more than a couple of times. He reached inside his small bag and took some kind of a leaf.  He handed it to Alaris and said,"Chew on this once we are up!It will help lessen the nausea.And the boy started to sit and started eating  the remaining cookies  from his pockets.
Morielle  sat by the edge of the mountain thinking, and Dhugal approached her. 
"What  a fine young lad this boy is. And he is brave and intelligent  too.He said to Morielle.
Morielle looked  him in the eyes and  replied. Ofcourse  he is, He have the best parents in the world."
" I'd surely would be proud of him if I'm  his father" Dhugal  retorted.
Again Morielle  smiled and beckon Dhugal  closer and whispered, " You should be, He is our son!
And walked away leaving  Dhugal with his mouth hanging and a pale face .
He followed  Morielle  back and little Pan approached  him and handed  him the same leaf he have offered  Alaris saying"Take this too, you seem to have much wine last night like him."

The flight was smoother  this time, Alaris looked  at Coleene who seemed  to be enjoying the ride.
Dhugal was also smiling and was always looking at little Pan.
Morielle  took the back  she  also have this beautiful  smile that makes  Alaris  think everyone  is happy. Why not enjoy too. And he chewed  on the leaf Pan gave him and the sickness was gone.

The Palace towers  were lined with colorful  flags.  Colored  tents  lined infront of the palace gates and walls. People were busy selling their goods and busy trading stuffs. 

At the palace entrance ,Coleene could not help but admire the grand preparation being prepared. She can not help herself but checked a bundle of  soft white linen being prepared as decoration for the huge ballroom. Here and there servants would rush carrying or pushing carts and boxes for unloading. Each box contained  exquisitely  designed  ornaments  to be placed atop  tall stands .  Ornamental plants were being brought outside of the huge veranda that overlooks  the palace orchards.
She stood outside the veranda as Morielle  watched  her intently, She then spoke which startled Coleene who was in her own thoughts,"You look exactly like your mother.!
Coleene's reply made Morielle smile."I have always dreamed about this! All of this. Never did it occurred  to me that this would happen. Everything that happened these past few days have totally  changed my life.
Morielle  guided  her to a table and signaled  the working servants to leave them for awhile.
And then she asked Coleene, "Do you love him?
Coleene nodded  and said,"We have already pledged  our love for each other!" Yes I love him with all my heart."
Morielle then asked he,"But did he ask your hand in marriage?

Dhugal and Alaris  stood in front of a big mirror.  Both of them were being fitted with lots of different style of clothes fitted  for kings.  As soon as it was done and they have agreed with their  tailors Dhugal immediately  took Alaris for a walk in the gardens. He said he have some important matters to discuss with him.
When they are alone He started his narrative. 
It was long ago when Dhugal and Kelson  first step foot on this Garden  here they met two lady and both of them instantly  fell in love with each. Kelson fell for Morissette, And Dhugal fell in love with Morissette's cousin.
After they were married,Kelson  and Morissette had Coleene.Her mother died giving birth. And four years later her Father died protecting Coleene  during the battle with the dark war lord by sacrificing  his life and bring the dark warlord with him.  The dark warlords  mages were  scattered  in defeat and run . But they all swore they will  kill Kelson's daughter and bring the warlord back to life.Dhugal was able to escape  with Coleene  and his her to the northern isle until just recently. During that time he did not know that he have become  a father to a boy and it was. Pan.
He asked Alaris to help him announce it during the on coming ceremony.
Alaris agreed but He asked Dhugal Coleene's  hand in marriage  since he stood as father for Coleene all this years. Dhugal hugged him in acceptance.And they agreed  that they will both do it during the birthday celebration.

Pan led the team of Rocs high above the sky there are lots of low lying clouds that pan usually use to cut through with his team,but today, he choose  to fly higher, once he passed the great big mountain he will  fly straight towards the green fields and to his destination.
He have miscalculated the distance,and he flew fast the bluffs  towards the hill and past the first mountain until he realized his mistake. He was about to turn his team back when he saw out of the corner of his eyes this fast moving thing like a big monkey with great wings and it is flying straight  towards them.
He quickly  maneuvered  his roc to fly higher  it was a slow ascent.  The other Rocs meet the flying thing head,on they are slow but they are ferocious and although the thing is much faster it is no match  for two adult rocs. It flew eastward and was gone in a matter of minutes leaving Pan a bit shocked but safe. He then flew heading a bit westward  and found the fields beyond the mountains towards his destination.
He was tired and hungry and soon forgot about the incident. The Rocs have landed.
