Chapter Thirteen

Queen Ysa have just narrated the grim raiding that took part in her kingdom that is why they were sent her for safety by Haggart,
Morielle  and Coleene  were shocked  by the story.
Alaris who sat by listening silently  was busy creating a plan. They all knew that Pur was just the first step, their kingdom would be nezt.
He stood up and say" I will meet up with the kingdoms smiths, mechanics,  inventors, and we will construct weapons and  gadgets that we may use in this war, Morielle  will plan the defense together with Yna,Queen  Ysa and Coleene  would stay and watch up in the towers. That was when the roc rider sent back by Pan arrived escorted  by the archers.  They were tired from the days flight  but they were able to report everything to Morielle.  Before Alaris was able to stand up another set of men were again being escorted by the same archers . This man gave the message  from Dhugal  and Haggart.

It read like this,

We have found new allies in this war, but we need to help them first save their  children. And we need the biggest rocs and the fastest as well, have them fly towards the great bluffs before midnight.
Saving this five children will help us turn this war against the enemies,
Ready our troops outside of the palace walls, get everybody that is available to fight. And those that can't  must be sent to the mountains that are near the northern isle, bounded by the great river,They will be safe there for the meantime,

In a different parchment,  was a copy of the detailed plan of attack rescue and retreat.

Morielle  did not waste  time  she immediately dispatched 15 of the kingdoms Roc riders  it would be difficult  for them to fly in the dark but they are the best. They will reach the bluffs by midnight. And then she dispatched another and  this group was another 15 but only have 5 riders the rest of the rocs are well saddled.
This was the fastest team of rocs. And they flew towards Pur .

Alaris then asked Morielle to order all of the talented and skilled men to report to him at the Palace gardens.
Alaris informed this group to share all inventions and weapons that they have. A few of them were very useful.
There was this alchemist that invented an exploding box. It was approved but was easily modified with the help of all that was there.  This man was instructed to make as many as possible  of this.
Another man showed them a new type of weapon that was easily  approved and he also was assigned to make as much as possible and it was to be constructed throughout  the palace walls. It was some kind of machine that shoots a volley of 20 short arrows half the length of the regular ones. Then Alaris made some modifications on his towers and it worked perfectly.  All the kingdoms spears were converted  to the same kind that he invented.
Also a war tactician an old soldier, made some modifications for the old war catapults above the palace towers.
This was all done with the help of the people of Queen Ysa and the people of Xylson kingdom. The defenses  are ready.
The Army were set to march towards the mountain pass, all available roc riders were paired with the hawk archers of the pur kingdom.

Morielle  once again wore her hooded shroud.  She will be flying with the Rescue team, it was her plan so she will be able to be near Pan.
It will be up to Alaris and Coleene  to defend  the palace. Yna And queen Ysa would also be there to help.
Before she left Coleene  handed her the cloak  that was given to her.
"Morielle,take this cloak, and use it. You have seen how it works and it will be a big help especially on your mission. "
Coleene  hugged  Morielle  and whispered bring Pan and those children back here safe and dont get hurt.
Morielle  just smiled back and turned to the waiting  Roc rider. They were gone in minutes.

Pan was sitted in a huge stone above the bluffs, he have carefully arranged huge rocks and logs and built a small fire pit. The lights could only be seen if one was above. This they have done during training so that other riders will know their locations when they trained at night.
The other Roc rider now slept. They need rest.
Pan had sensed the coming Rocs before he even saw them.And as soon as they landed. He saw her mother .
They walked away from the others and once alone Morielle spoke.
This cloak belongs to Coleene, she said to Pan  it makes the wearer and anybody  invisible, use it and be safe, for now we will wait. So you need to eat and rest first.

Dhugal and Haggart  have placed  the warriors  and soldiers in position. Every body is ready, they are just all waiting for the cue to attack.
Every one was informed that Grushev's forces  will be located  at the right  planks,  The Left plank  is where the robbers and brigands would be.
Grushev have made them believe that during the parley their leader lost in a hand to hand combat with Haggart and that He will help avenge their  leader.
A big burly man who obviously  stood up and by force or maybe popularity was instantly made the new leader of the group.
He was still bragging about how he was able to defeat 5 men in hand to hand combat when an arrow hits his palm that was holding a wine keg.
The surprise attack was so sudden that many of the robbers who were unsuspecting was not able to hide and defend them selves.  And as soon as they volley  of arrows stop. The new leader commanded to rest to attack.
The archers,  on the other end were now moving back 50 paces. And then shooting another volley.
But the robbers  are already prepared.  They have their  shields, soon the rest of the group that were not reached by the arrows were all attacking making the archers ran all the way back to their lines ,and then the cavalry rode forward headed  by Haggart and Dhugal,each waving their mighty weapons, hammering and hacking away those unlucky ones that faced them,
Already the robbers have lost a lot of their  men. But they still continue  the assault.  And by sheer  force of numbers  they were able to drive back the defending army of Pur.
That is what they thought that was happening.  But it was part of the plan of Dhugal and Haggart.  To make the enemy believe  they are retreating.

Pan awoke with the sounds of the distant battle, it is time for them to move.
Two Riders would accompany  Pan to rescue the five children that was held captive in one of the separated building  near the Pentagon  building.
This building  was guarded by imps,
On the outside and an ogre in the inside.
The imps were easily disposed  by the hawk archers.
Pan was already wearing the cloak  and was able to enter the building undetected  it was just luck that the ogre was asleep that he was able to  lead the five frightened  children out of the building  and was soon  flying away towards Pur circling  the Dragon claw mountain to avoid detection,
Up in the sky all the Rocs riders saw the battle happening at the fields of Pur, they saw behind the massing numbers of ogres and imps and gargoyles  and trolls. These were all coming down from the dragon claw mountains full scale attack would soon commence into Pur. Onslaught and destruction, pain and death. This is the description of this war. Anywhere you look there is someone dying or asking for help or mercy. Death is their toll to pay.
The two armies  are toe to toe up to the moment when The roc riders landed at the battle field behind the lines of the armies of Pur.
Three burning arrows shot across the sky and Grushev  saw it, the warriors hidden in the forest  saw it and the army of Pur was withdrawing  from the battle field. The lines of the robbers  pushed forward.  The ogres lumbering  behind  and lots of skimpy imps are fluttering  everywhere. The defenders retreat until most of the enemy army  are well positioned  at the center of the field.
Then from the forest spring hundreds  of warriors, attacking one side then on their front the army of Pur attacked with so much Fury  hacking and slicing the robbers,  shooting arrows at the imps. And on the Other side was the mercenaries that was being led by Grushev. 
Many of the band of thieves  and robbers died. The attack would have wiped out the other army if the Trolls have not arrived those gigantic monsters turned the war result again. The Combined forces are at a big disadvantage now. Their arrows and swords are like small sticks  and branches that breaks upon hitting the trolls.
The command was given  and every one retreat towards the lines of huts where the archers are hidden.
This archers are precisely hitting  some imps and ogres infront  of the enemy lines but still there are so many coming.
The archers were forced to withdraw towards the city walls.
And as soon as the last archer was in the Gates were closed.
Now, the warriors are being led to the forest and mountain behind Pur. They are to hide near the palace of Xylson.  That is where they plan to make their last stand.
They archers shots the huts with burning arrows and it quickly burned a few ogres and imps and robbers and thieves as well. The enemy advance stopped. The imps then took hold of the dead.and they bring it back to the mountains back to their  masters.

Who will die?
Who would sacrifice life?
What will happen to Pan?
When will this madness end?
