Welcome to the
Sunflower Café
PrefaceIt wasn't just her breathtaking beauty that always seemed to captured his attention, nor was it her perfectly sculpted body, or her soft, melodious voice. It could've been the way she always dressed in dark colors and short, revealing clothes. Or, it could've been the way her body swayed and her hips danced as she moved, forever entrapping his gaze in her lovely form.
Yet, none of these things seemed to be the reason why he could never look away.
His admiration seemed to be captured by her powerful presence. The way this unknown woman could walk into a room and he would automatically sense her, the way she could walk past him and his body would tingle, the way she could smile to herself and he would automatically feel warm. The way she could affect him such, yet have never even so much as glimpsed at him.
It was an odd feeling—foreign—as he felt himself so responsive to her yet she was ever so oblivious of him. He'd later admit he'd find multiple excuses to visit the Sunflower Café just to see her once more, but in the time being, his friends grew oddly suspicious of his suden infatuation with the place. Yet they'd always tag along, pleasing him in the end, doing so as they'd come to notice he'd always leave the place happier than when they'd arrived.
But one day his gleaming eyes and bothered cheeks weren't that subtle to his closest mate, whom was quick to follow his eyes and land upon the beauty that seemed to have him in such a trance. His company's eyes widened and lips formed an 'oh' as he admired her in unison, pinpointing his lad's newfound interest in that specific café.
It didn't take him long to realize his friend had caught him almost drooling over a stranger, and quickly shook himself out of his daydreaming, searching for a way to distract his friend from his newfound knowledge.
His friend still accompanied him occasionally to the café, turning a blind eye to his unsubtle interest in the unknown woman. And as their visits increased and they studied her more intently, his company soon started to become skeptical of her. Finally one day mustering up the courage to bring her up.
"Don't do it man," his best mate voiced, concern laced in his words. "Don't fall for her, she looks like bad news."
He was caught off guard by this, jumping slightly in surprise and cheeks reddening in embarrassment. "I won't, I won't," he mumbled, averting his eyes from her and playing with his food. "Was just admiring is all."
His friend stayed unconvinced but didn't push further, settling on watching him closer and staying close in the case that anything bad did happen. But it would take weeks for even a slight interaction between him and the beauty to spark, diminishing his friend's worry to just a fleeting thought.
"She is very attractive," his friend said one day, genuinely surprising him. They hadn't talked about her much, both pretending not to acknowledge the mystery woman and her effect on him. He was quite grateful for it actually, that way he could avoid awkward explanations to the jumble of emotions and thoughts that reigned over him every time he saw her.
He nodded and looked at her, his eyes glowing as his gaze found her, smiling softly and whispering, "She's beautiful."
