Ughh!!! The young boy could feel the pain all over his body as he rolled on the ground stopping flat on his back.

Slowly opening his eyes as he coughed trying hard to catch his breath.

It was mid afternoon but it seemed like it was nighttime. The thick tree branches covered the sky and blocked the bright sun.

“On your feet, boy! We are far from finished !!”

After a deep breath he slowly gets up, his legs felt wobbly, slowly gaining his balance he began to walk taking very short steps over to the stern young woman that taunted him. The boy says meekly,

“I’m hungry and I’m tired.”

Tears started to fall from the boys cheeks rolling over the purple bruises that covered his face.

“Do you think I give a shit?!”

She yelled, as she walked toward the boy closing the distance between them.

Although she was a beautiful woman; her presence was as strong as a grizzly bear. Her long blue hair sticking out from the red bandana she wore around her head flowed down her back. Her light brown skin was smooth and blemish free.

You could feel the disappointment flowing from her as she stopped and stood next to the boy. He began to cowerin fear. It was easy to see that he was terrified of this woman. As he looked up at her it seemed as if she was 10 feet tall. As she gazed down her blood red pupils glared straight through him he tried hard not to make eye contact fearing it might add to her rage.

“ Do I have to repeat myself again?! You must become strong! This weak little boy act will not do!”

Mustering the last of his strength the little boy balled his fist, inhaled deeply and said a brief silent prayer before he spoke.

“Why?! What’s the point of all this?!”

The woman lowers her head and smiles. Her fangs were sharp and helped to make her seem more like a beast which added to the boys fear.

As the rain began to fall from the sky the mood suddenly changed.

Taking the last two remaining steps that kept the two apart she lowered herself down on one knee placing her hand on his shoulder gently.

“One day boy.”

She said in a deep almost inaudible tone one that’s more kind and caring like a mother.

“One day there will be something that you will have to protect. Not only will you have to protect it you will want to with every last fiber of your being.”

The boy slaps her arm away breathing hard. As he gathered more and more of his courage it caused him to hyperventilate he lets out one quick breath looks her in the eyes with rage and tears falling down his face.

“I don't care!”

He, yelled.

“That’s all I ever hear you say. I don't want to protect anything!”

The lady stands up crossing her arms she looks down at the boy who looked up at her. He was no longer scared and he stood his ground. The woman was surprised by his outburst and proud at the same time.

“ Well, I hate to tell you this but I make the rules…..”

“SHUT UP!!”

He interrupted her before she could finish.

“I WISH YOU WEREN’T MY MOTHER  AND I WISH YOU WERE DEAD!  ONLY, THEN I COULD DO WHAT EVER THE HELL I WANTED!”
