"278," Leigh answers, in a monotone voice, not conveying any emotion whatsoever.

If I was expecting anything, it certainly wasn't that. I hold Leigh's eye contact, trying to formulate an appropriate response. I push my lips to form words, to try and comfort her, and yet, they are frozen in place.

Beside me, Clarke stands, pushing herself away from the tree and glancing between Leigh and I. "I'm going to head back to the bunker and get the supplies together," she speaks quietly as if she's afraid of breaking the stillness and tension in the air.

Neither Leigh nor I speak or break our stares.

After what feels like an eternity, Leigh breaks the eye contact, shifting her weight to one side and gesturing to the direction Clarke took off. "Should we follow after Fake Princess or are you going to say something?" she inquires.

I want to tell her that I'm here for her. But my mouth won't comply.

She nods in understanding and turns away from me. At that moment, I regain control over my limbs, standing to grab her hand. She glances at my hand wrapped around hers before looking me in my eyes, waiting for an explanation for my sudden movements.

I clear my throat, nervously hoping I don't say something terribly wrong that makes her close herself off from me. "Tell me about them," I say.

She shakes her head slightly, "You don't want to know that side of me, Bellamy," she shakes my hand from hers, stepping away and running her hands through her partially braided hair. "I mean I just told you a small bit and you took off running like a scared child. I can't feel that feeling again," she almost pleads as her voice breaks.

I grab ahold of both her hands, pulling her back to me. "I will never leave you again," I grab her chin, forcing her to look me in the eyes, "I'm here for you. All of you. Even the scary parts."

She stares, almost assessing me before she pulls us to sit with our backs against the tree. "So," she gazes into my eyes seriously, "What do you want to know?"

"Everything," I respond.

She lays her head back against the tree, closing her eyes for a moment. "Well, that's a long story."

"We've got time. I already told you I'm not going anywhere," I promise her, grabbing her hand for support.

"Then we might as well start from the beginning," she starts, "You already know the story of my first mission."
