a/n: short david tehe

「。。。」

It's a bad idea to approach Simon in the hot tub, David knows this.

It's a very bad idea to come to him when it's dark, and he's only in swim trunks, and he's only swim briefs, and they both have alcohol in their systems. But it's been a very long day, and he looks so alone in the hot tub in Dec's backyard, and he's already asleep, so what can it hurt?

The party has already faded. It's very late at night, and even Ant and Dec are passed out together on the couch, when they're the ones who suggested the party, and it's too quiet. And really, David never sleeps anyway.

But Simon does. He knows from nights watching him breathe deeply into his pillows, pulling him closer at two in the morning to press kisses to his shoulders. There's a pang in his chest at the memory. Simon sleeps, but he isn't sleeping now.

He watches him as he sinks into the hot tub, and he doesn't stop him. He knows it's a bad idea too, but it seems neither of them have much self control tonight.

"Hi," he says to him, all the way on the other side of the pool.

David manages a smile. "Hey."

There's a very long, awkward pause.

"So...can't sleep?" he asks.

"Nope. Especially not when I drink. I'm not even close to tired."

"But...it's three in the morning, David."

He smirks at him. "Says the one who's also up right now, and doesn't look the slightest bit tired."

Simon looks away from him now, into the water, pushing it around with his hands. He takes note of his chest, and the way he breathes deeply, and he kind of wants to rest his hand there. "I've just been thinking too much," Simon admits.

He quirks a brow. "Well...penny for your thoughts?"

"I..." he bites his lip, and that sight actually makes David start to squirm a little. "In the interest of full disclosure, and at the fault of alcohol, I've been thinking about you."

"I've been thinking about you, too," he gasps, the action sending him off the wall, a little closer to him. He notices his eyes quickly dart to his lips and then back to his face. "I miss you like crazy."

"I miss you, too, Dave..."

"I think about you all the time."

"God, I...I don't think I've stopped thinking about you even once since we broke up."

"Even though you have a girlfriend now?" The question should make them pause, re-evaluate their situation, but instead, it does the opposite. And maybe that's because David is now directly in front of Simon, and there's hardly anywhere for him to put his hands anymore, and they're aching to grip his hips.

"Yes," Simon admits, low in his throat, and his fingers graze the sides of his bare thighs. "Even then."

And maybe it's because of the alcohol, or the hot tub, or his hands on his legs. Or maybe it's just because he kind of loves Simon but can't tell him that. Maybe it's because he doesn't care that he's dating some lucky ass girl now because he belongs with David, and his lips look soft, he really just needs to remember again how they feel on his. Maybe that's why he kisses him.
